Over the last year, I’ve shown my work in several @unit2stleonards exhibitions and seen many brilliant and diverse exhibitions and hundreds of artists have shown their work. I’m already missing this space, & I’m not alone!

For EPIGEAL, ‘Cluster & Fruit Basket’ was selected - it’s one of my ’notquitejewellery’ works - it happens that the word ‘jewellery’ originates from Latin ‘locale’ meaning ‘plaything’ and playing is what I’m doing when I’m making and mixing up different elements.
For this iteration I’ve put Cluster and Fruit Basket together - I like the way Fruit Basket brings a cheekiness into the mix.

My next new assemblage work for ROOM, a @soco_artists exhibition at @hastingsartsforumofficial
‘Room’, as a prompt, gave me new ways to think about the work.
The core of ‘Ponytail’ came about while I was making assemblages in February for Artquest’s yearly 30/30 challenge - a new work every day for 30 days.
For ‘Room’ I needed the work to have containment, so when I upturned the bubbly orange lampshade and put Ponytail inside it, I felt a sense of satisfaction.
At our Open Evening, a friend suggested ‘Ponytail’ was a version of Vermeer’s ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ - love that!! ❤️
The install for ‘Room’ is excellent!!

‘Room’, as a prompt, gave me new ways to think about the work.
The elements of ‘Twist & Shout’ got together in a symbiotic relationship, due to the exact amount of room that holds them together in space.
What a treat when @ericawordsmith came into the gallery and had a visual conversation with ‘Twist & Shout’!!
Next up is ‘Ponytail’….tbc

A few details from Floorplan Bureau…looking back at all the places I’ve lived in.
See my last post showing the whole installation.
The painting, made in 1987, is of the lovely kitchen linoleum in my Peabody Flat on Camberwell Green - great times of learning to jive and loving dancing at Hellzapoppin & other London venues and showing my work with the Mercury Gallery, Cork Street.
I’m enjoying looking into the Bureau’s cylinders - another time warp. The jar is holding a hoard of broken ceramics found in Scotland from Wemyss Bay (Inverclyde).

Unsure as to respond to Floor Plan, by chance, a kindly neighbour offered me this little bureau a few weeks ago.
It reminded me of the bureau I’d grown up with, and I began remembering all the 14 places I’ve lived in through my life, from Scotland to St. Leonard’s via Maidenhead, Winchester and London.
The act of remembering and drawing brought me back through time, as well as using found and made objects.
