Some BTS shots a few days before my show Cuerdas del Manglar (Strings from the Mangrove) at Kinderhook & Caracas opening April 25. I built a cnc router to create 3d holographic imagery of maroon histories from Afro- Ecuadorian communities in Esmeraldas scratched onto metal plates, imagining the shipwreck not as a disaster but as a portal to a new reality. Understanding the world as a multidimensional space built of strings which vibrations connect us to our ancestors no matter the distance in time and space. Come through Berlin 🌱 @kinderhookcaracas

I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to show my film NAUFRAGIO LIBERADOR (Liberating Shipwreck) on the screen of @piccadillylights as part of the @circa.art prize as one of its 30 finalists! It has been an amazing journey developing the film and touring it to different places. It’s currently showing in full length at the @bienalamazonias in Belem Brazil. I want to thank everyone who helped make this film a reality: starting with @d_ante20 who helped produce it, to my father @remigiotapiaramirez who narrates, to @mobilegirl who provided the soundtrack, to @yuliana_ortiz_ruano who inspired the concept of the film. And of course to the interviewees Marino Guarin, Arquimedes Simisterra Hurtado, @khrystelortiz and Juan Montaño. To Daniel Ayala and Johnathan Mayorga Montilla for the camera work. And last but not least my daughter @lott3_ameli8 who contributed a drawing for the film, my mum @speiser.sabine and my wife @stephaniecomilang for being so fabulous and supportive! What a dream!

Haynes, Alvaro Barrington, Nicoletta Fiorucci, Josef O’Connor, Norman Rosenthal and Catherine Wood will select one artist to receive £30,000 and realise a major new public commission premiering in 2027. 🗳️ An online public vote, powered by @piccadillylights , will grant an additional £10,000 to the artist with the most votes. 📆 Save the date.
