Numbers and statistics are cold and hard to grasp. Thank you Mary Evers for initiating this project. This installation shows only 14’560 names, of the ten of thousands people killed in this senseless war. Women’s names are stitched in red, men’s in black, children’s in green.

Most of us take our daily meals for granted but for millions this is just a dream.
First the drought made the harvests fail and then food prices soared so that even the very basics became unaffordable for Hassi Seyni and her young family, forcing her husband to leave and find work elsewhere.
Support from the @BritishRedCross has meant that Hassi was able to buy bags of corn, millet and vegetables for nutrition. Yet across the Sahel region of Africa, there is still a silent hunger crisis. The magic and challenge of printing! Long awaited and months in the making - yesterday the De La Espada Look Book Volume 3 finally rolled off the press.
Featuring Monte da Azarujinha by Aboim Inglez Arquitectos, São Mamede House by Manuel Aires Mateus & Sofia Pinto Basto shot by Yuki Sugiura and the Stockholm Design Week 2018 event captured by Fredrik Sweger.
For the two shoots in Portugal I was responsible for location scouting, shoot production, styling (thank you Alex for your help with the Lisbon shoot) and art direction. Over the last few months the book took shape with contributions from Manuel Aires Mateus, Aboim Inglez Arquitectos, Jason Miller, words by Phoebe Montoya, graphics by myself and printed at Norprint in Portugal.
