“Absolute unmixed attention is prayer.” ✨Episode 9 of Practice Room Breaks is out now — link in bio!

I sat down with the brilliant violinist Simone Porter to talk about her musical origins, her electrifying stage presence, how she tackles performance anxiety, and the inspiration behind her debut album “ad tendo”—built around philosopher Simone Weil’s idea that “absolutely unmixed attention is prayer.” You’ll also hear a live performance of an excerpt from Biber’s Passacaglia (featured on the album) and what fuels Simone’s inspiration beyond the violin.
And there’s so much more content coming soon — from finding out what’s in Simone’s bag to a very special performance of a beloved piano piece transcribed for violin & piano that you all will instantly recognize.
Big thank you to @steinwayandsons and Steinway Hall in NYC for hosting our program!
