“We were aiming for a very classical but not super-obvious vintage look and feel, reminiscent of 90s US horror films like Scream (1996), but with a more modern, flamboyant, and expressive twist, à la Saltburn. That’s why we chose the classical Alexa Mini with the S35 sensor, but framed for open gate (1.5:1), and combined it with the T-Tuned BLACKWING7s and some glimmer glass filtration for creaminess, flares, falloff, and an overall painterly quality. Many techniques of detuning an image went into creating the softy softy pointillistic experimental velvet fairytale look of this movie, that we saw fit our main character Parvis‘ perception of the world. We used old uncoated lenses at their most open and diffusion filtration aswell as color filtration to shift all colors towards a warmer brown tone in camera, then in post we tried to twist that around by infusing some lavender rosé flavors before softening even further and dipping it all in the most organic of bio grains. You should probably watch it yourself.

Last year we created something special - Deafened Giants - a film that I directed with the help of an amazing group of people, now out in the world and doing festival rounds.
It tells the story of Kai, a 12-year-old boy caught in an inescapable sea of noise, while separated from his mother. His ordeal mirrors the marine creatures’ struggles with the underwater noise pollution that jeopardises their survival and is one of the most underappreciated environmental issues of our time.
