While some people think running has become just performative messing around, this morning my brother-in-law @raphaelnoir and I ran up a mountain. In the snow. In May. We were very slow (mainly because of my ankle injury sustained a couple of weeks ago). But we tried hard, had fun and met some really cool people who run because they love running, not because there is a camera crew there.
I love magazines. That is why @likethewindmag exists - I was buying cycling, surfing and adventure magazines as a runner training nine times and covering 80 or 90 miles per week. I didn't surf or even own a bicycle. I just loved the format of coffee table style magazines. And the fact that you can read a whole story in a matter of minutes, beginning to end.
But the running magazine I wanted to read didn't exist. So my wife and I created it.
To receive the latest copy of @likethewind.jp is massively exciting. I can't read a word of it, but what a wonderful publication. Congrats to @mokusei222 for another fantastic issue.
Print is most certainly not dead.
After the big news from Sunday’s London Marathon of the first Sub 2 hour time I’m lucky to have managed to get both @simonbfreeman and the best Endurance science writer in Alex Hutchinson (@sweat_science ) to share their thoughts, reflections and explanation on an emergency, celebratory episode of the Focused Mind Podcast. If you want to get behind the headlines, understand what it was like in London, and the science of what it takes to break 2, then listen in (Link in bio).

A few weeks ago @simonbfreeman and @adriiennneper had a crafts day in Boulder. Heads down, signing and numbering every single Founding Member copy of LtW USA Issue #1 by hand. Stamps, stickers, stacks, the full operation.
Only 250 Founding Member spots will ever exist and they are filling up fast. Your package lands with a signed, hand-numbered special-edition cover and your own Founding Member card (yours for life). On top of that: 20% off the shop forever, quarterly behind-the-scenes interviews, an LtW technical running top, and backstage access to LtW events.
Be there from the beginning. Link in bio.

Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours on my birthday. Tomorrow I’m heading to 🇺🇸 for the launch of @likethewindmag USA issue one. Can’t think of a better start to my next trip around the sun!
This moment feels very significantly, personally. When @sistak and I launched @likethewindmag 12 years ago, we had no ambitions other than creating the running magazine we wanted to read. We kept going for a decade - into a “everything is going online” headwind - because of a few thousand people who wanted the same magazine we did. But that has changed. Over the past couple of years LtW has taken off. Julie and I went full time (and full on) in the business. We have been joined by a first class team of colleagues. And membership around the world has exploded. So now we are launching LtW USA. The reception already - before the magazine is even out - has been huge and entirely positive. So all I can say is … let’s go!
@likethewindmag is part of the @acidrunning pop-up currently open on the King’s Road in London. And best of all, we’re hosting a storytelling hour next Friday (16th Jan). Tickets are free and places are limited, so if you are around and fancy a slice of pizza and a drink on us plus some live storytelling and a chance to check out the Acid Running range, reserve a spot now.
