🪞💀 Phantasmagoria Mirror It has been a challenging task to take a picture of our Phantasmagoria mirror in action but thanks to the patience and amazing @simonbarmitt we made it! The mirror, an interactive memento mori sculpture, projects a human skull, faint as memory, hovering over your own reflection—a soft trace of the inevitable of what we are, and what we’re becoming. ‘Hello’, I’m Simon B. Armitt and I will be leading another ‘Practical Introduction to Jewellery Photography for Makers’ @K2jewelleryacademy on the 29th & 30th May 2025, in @Cockpitstudios Holborn. If you have prior photographic experience, or none, and are struggling with photographing your work, with your camera or phone, then this course is for you. It will provide you with the basics needed to select and set-up your photographic equipment, lighting, set, and how to start basic post capture processing and formatting. In addition, we’ll also explore equipment budgets, where I can offer lots of advice to help you save a considerable amount of money, as you move forward through your photography journey. You’ll be working in pairs, and I will be there to assist and critique your development throughout the 2 days. Access will be available to my basic professional set-up so you can ‘see how I do it’ and gain valuable camera experience without the financial risk. Had this rather beautiful object come through the studio a couple of weeks ago, I’ve not photographed many bespoke lighters, particularly ones with the most gorgeous opals set onto them. ‘Illuminate’ by the talented @ionahallsilversmith provides a very opulent case for the traditional lighter burner. The course will answer the above questions and more.  You will experience a ‘hands on’ approach to using your own equipment (camera & phone) setting up a budget conscious, experimental desktop studio, all mentored by me, to help you get the best from your camera / phone images. My basic studio equipment will also be available for you to try, so you can make informed, money saving equipment and financial decisions to move your future photography forward. Just a few shots from last night’s PV ‘When the Dust had Settled’ showing beautifully presented and reflective works by @karolina_brodnicka_ (pictured) @michaela.barochova and @mariastella.jewellery installed over the three floors of the 16th century St Augustine’s Tower, Hackney.
