So excited to have recorded the next conversation in the @societyforperceptionstudies Speaker Series with the legendary Marshall Ganz coming out in a few days. Beyond architecting some of the most influential political campaigns of our time, he is a profoundly special person. At one point, I asked him about “spending” his life working on movements. He stopped me. “It’s funny you say spending,” he said. “I would say I’m investing my life.” Such a small difference in language, but a complete reorientation in how to see a life. His wisdom has a way of whispering through your everyday thoughts and routines…What am I investing my life in? Why? And then another why after that. We feel incredibly lucky to learn from him and even luckier to call him a friend 🤍

A few clips from my SPS Speaker Series interview with my professor, Michael Puett. To watch the full conversation, go to @societyforperceptionstudies YouTube channel in the link in bio ❤️ We talk about how Chinese philosophy offers a different way to live and develop yourself. Instead of trying to “find” who you are, it treats the self as something you build over time through practice by reshaping how you think, act, and respond.
It emphasizes ritual as ways to interrupt and retrain habit, breaking patterns and moving away from stimulus-dependent living toward something more stable and self generated. We also unpack the inherited frameworks that still keep us stuck in the modern rat race.
Thank you for all the support so far 🥹❤️ so excited to share the next set of interviews with my colleagues across Harvard graduate schools!

We are excited to share a conversation series we, alongside our peers at Harvard, created around the idea that you don’t live by what you know—you live by what you’ve been taught to notice and care about. And that is shaped by your education, culture, and environment. Haze and I studied film and fine art at USC, where creative practice became a way of questioning the world—and where we began to see education not just as information, but as something that trains what you notice and value. Over the past few years, we’ve been leading a nonprofit expanding access to education for children affected by conflict and displacement, constantly asking what education is really for—and what kind of knowledge actually matters. Now at Harvard, we’re exploring those questions more deeply. This series grew out of that: conversations where we and fellow graduate students interview professors who have genuinely changed how we see the world. Full conversation is on @societyforperceptionstudies link in bio 📖
