The detail that made this outfit mine, clay moulds in place of traditional beading, the head of the Oba of Benin, all in honour of my Edo mother. I wanted something that felt like her. I think this comes close.

My mum is Edo, so for cultural day I wanted to honour her roots. We swapped traditional beading for clay moulds, a small but intentional nod to the earth and craft that Edo culture is built on. This one is for her. 💕

In three months my mom is going to have a full head of hair. I’m calling it now.
She carried her hair loss journey quietly for a long time but decided to open up because her story could help someone else. So here we are.
