The holidays invite us to embrace the spirit of connection, compassion, and generosity. They remind us of the importance of fostering a world grounded in love and mutual respect, not just for one season a year, but always.
That's why I'm proud to be part of the Bayard Rustin Society, a national, multi-racial, intergenerational network of change makers dedicated to extending the spirit of the holidays throughout the year. Our mission is to create a brighter and more equitable future by embodying the core values championed by Bayard Rustin, a pioneering gay civil rights leader and advisor to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In the words of Bayard Rustin, "If we desire a society of peace, then we cannot achieve such a society through violence. If we desire a society without discrimination, then we must not discriminate against anyone in the process of building this society. If we desire a society that is democratic, then democracy must become a means as well as an end"
As we approach the end of the year, I invite you to join me and other passionate individuals across the nation as we carry forward Rustin's profound legacy. Become part of this movement of "Angelic Troublemakers" shaping a better future for our nation and the world.

Never underestimate how a chance meeting with someone who takes a chance to believe you are amazing can change your life. Through Tom, who I just met in September, I’ve made new friends, sharpened the strategic vision needed to fight for the rights of so many marginalized people, and mostly I’ve gained a true brother who I already miss (and I just left SF less than 24 hours ago).
Never let your differences outshine your sameness. We share a similar pulse for what’s wrong in the world…and our ability, alongside communities of care, to right it. 😊
