Is it worth the cold for snow photos? You tell me!
Snow is rare in the DMV but the images tell the story stillness and waiting for a new season. It's poetry and the perfect intersection of art and story.
Thanks for sticking out the cold with me Stephanie! You are radiant.
Both dresses featured are available in the Silver Orchard client closet.

I wear a lot of hats—mom, photographer, designer—but at the heart of it all, I’m someone who believes beautiful things are worth preserving.
Today is my birthday, and as my husband and I were reflecting on the past year, I said something every parent says: it went by so fast. But it really did. I blinked, and that tiny newborn is now walking and talking. A blink. And I find myself wondering—did I memorize every moment? Am I staying present while also being so excited for each new step?
That’s the question I bring into every session. Whether I'm photographing a family in the middle of the toddler years here in Maryland, or a couple on the edge of forever during a wedding in DC or Northern Virginia, I know what it means to want to bottle it all up—what it feels like to want something to hold onto.
We’re capturing this season of life—not just for you, but for the people who will look back on these moments decades from now. The same photos that hold meaning today will one day tell your children and grandchildren what their childhood felt like, how deeply they were loved, and how your story began.

Happy mother's day. To the expecting mom's, the new moms, the moms seeing their children off to the world, the moms becoming grandmother's, the step-moms, and of course, to the women who still want to become moms and the moms who care for others without the title.
It's a great honor to be invited into these women's lives and making sure they are visible in the story. So much of what I do on the surface seems superficial but at its core, my work is capturing the people you love most, and the people who love you. It's capturing the absolute best parts of our lives.
Happy mother's day.

Do you wish someone would just tell you how to stand so you feel your best on your wedding day? Hi! I'm Christine and it's nice to meet you!
Some girls know their angles and can pull off the "perfect candid", but far more want someone to tell them where to put their hands and how to angle their chin. I've got you! I'm here to guide you through simple tweeks so that on your wedding day your real smile shines through because you have me on your team, making sure you'll love your wedding memories.

Happy Derby Day! Fun fact, I was born in Louisville Kentucky and even though we moved to Maryland when I was little, every first Saturday we would stop every thing for the race. And then later the Preakness and Belmont Stakes.
Maybe Kentucky rubbed off on me early because I've always loved horses, riding as a kid and even taking it up again before I got pregnant.
I hope you have your bets in (I'm going with Comandment and Ryan has choosen Litmus Test) and some good Kentucky bourbon in your glass!

These toes and hands and yawns are only little this one time, every day they get bigger and bigger. These are the photos we look back on for the rest of our lives. They outlive us. The great grandkids look back on them and wonder at how their oldest and wisest was once a tiny baby too.

We loved designing the tabletop looks and stage design for the most recent DMV Wedding Collective event at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club!
We worked with our sponsors Three Little Buds on florals, Honeywood Rentals for the stage, Pretty Little Wedding Co for the furniture and tableware and Curated Events for the linens to bring our vision of delicate spring meets waterfront femme. Did you know that even when planning your wedding, we typically are sourcing rentals from across at minimum 3 rental wedding vendors? It is so important to us not to settle for just “meh”, but find the exact right special touches, from the ideal chairs, bars, linens, to all of the plates, glassware and silverware... just a few examples of the rental items that go into every wedding!

This is one of my favorite first looks I’ve ever photographed. Not just for how it looked, but for what it meant.
Brittany and Sean both got ready in the home they had recently purchased, which was a huge milestone for them, and it mattered that it was part of their story. Brittany chose to see her dad in the front yard, and then have him walk her to Sean, who was waiting in the backyard. It wasn’t staged or overly planned, it just unfolded. A quiet moment in the front yard, a walk around the house, their dog close behind, and a simple handoff. He shook Sean’s hand and stepped away without hesitation. It felt steady, grounded, and completely certain.
What you don’t see is how much this was shaped by the timeline. We had a quick turnaround to leave for her grandparents, where the ceremony and reception were being held, !so this needed to move seamlessly from one moment to the next without breaking the flow of the day.
This wasn’t meant to be a heavily directed or formally staged. It was planned for continuity, not control. Her dad knew where to go, Brittany knew what was coming, and from there, they were able to stay fully present in it. That gave us space to document it as it actually felt. The movement, the emotion, the transition from one chapter to the next all happened in real time, and that’s what made it as honest as it was.

If you want candid or documentary moments on your wedding day, you have to create space for them.
Rachel’s getting ready had nearly an hour. That meant her mom could come in and have a quiet moment with her. Her mother-in-law had time to step in. The kids weren’t rushed in and out, they lingered, played, peeked around the corner, and eventually became part of it.
None of that happens when the timeline is tight.
One of the things I walk couples through early on is that your timeline is not just a schedule. It’s a tool to protect your time. It lets us cordon off space so the parts of the day that matter most to you can actually be experienced, not rushed through.
Getting ready is one example. Your first look is another. If you want that time to feel calm and personal, we can build in space before anyone else joins. The same goes for cocktail hour. If being present with your guests matters, we can shift other parts of the day to make that possible.
When we know what you care about ahead of time, we can shape the day around it. That’s what allows me to step back and photograph things as they naturally unfold, instead of constantly directing or moving you along.
Rushing is what takes you out of those moments. Time is what gives them room to happen.

Cherry blossom season has been on my mind as I prep for spring family sessions, and it brought me back to this DC engagement session.
This is what those sessions actually feel like, a little movement, a little direction, and then letting the real moments take over.
Angela’s eye makeup and the way she held eye contact gave everything that subtle editorial edge, but it still feels completely like them. That balance of guided and genuine is always what I’m after.
