Our Jessie Street JV has been progressing over the Christmas break, if feels like forever since we have been on site! Progress here is looking amazing! The entry being the major standout from todays site visit, walking along a elevated paved walkway, through an oversized door and looking out onto a garden and greenery! It is so nice to see the spaces come to life! Builder: @rubiks__cubed Architect: @obioffice Interiors: @buildhercollective Landscape: @silverleaf_studio

When is the best time to be looking at your landscaping? Before you build! We also find that doing the hardscaping with the builder while they are building saves us money and doing messy work when the inside is newly finished. We had a concept plan with Jenny from @silverleaf_studio before we started on our Jessie Street Joint Venture Project so we could work through all the integrations of the pool, pool house, living to outside, etc. Then we met onsite to run through how we are tracking and finalise our plant selection now that the slab is poured and the garden area is starting to come to life. Here are some things to consider when planning out your landscaping: - Sightlines from inside to outside? What are you featuring and what are the views. - Usefulness of areas at different times of the year. We have an undercover bbq area off the pool house complete with integrated heating for winter and ceiling fan for summer. - The garden at different times of the year – what will be flowering, how will things die back. - Cohesiveness from front garden to back - Hardscaping vs Softscaping - Levels – are there changes in the levels and how will you transition? - Drainage? Top tip, this should be installed early! - Living zones, play zones and functional spaces - Service areas and access So fun! I can not wait to share this project with you and love the collaborative way that Jenny works with us – she is changing my opinion on some plants that I would typically have been a hard no on!

Coastal planting plan for an upcoming Point Leo project. The plant palette is inspired by some of the beauties from the @groundstudiolandscape and @arcadia_studio gardens we visited on the outstanding @outlandishventures California tour.

Ron Lutsko of @lutskoassociates and the owner generously shared this garden and house in the Potolo Valley. The house was designed by architect Lewis Butler. A masterclass in borrowing from the surrounding landscape.

An awesome day with the team from @studio_mla . Inspiring to visit their studio and hear about the plans for rehabilitating and reimagining the second largest landfill site in the US at Puente Hills, LA into a community park. Followed by a visit to the vast public spaces at SoFi Stadium. @outlandishventures
