Very excited to find a Bruel & Kjaer 1022 beat frequency oscillator in Perth! As used in the 1960’s for the “Doctor Who Theme” at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop… nicknamed “the wobbulator”. ❤️ BFOs were first developed to convert morse code to audible signals. But the Radiophonic Workshop had other ideas for such scientific test equipment. 💡 And we got ours working 🎉💥 along with a very cool filter unit! Accompanying our test equipment drones with a little synth magic is a favourite pastime at the @signals_sound_laboratory So we thought we’d flip a couple of patches from one of our most used soft synths by @gforcesoftware - designed by @theunfinished From the amazing ImpOSCar 3 we have “Differentials” flipping into “Blissed Out”. A masterclass in controlled feedback. ⚡️� We were thrilled recently to host South Korean feedback artist @livefdbck (Jsuk Han) for an explosive, improvised session in the Lab. Jsuk is in Fremanlte/Walyalup as part of a @wfac_fremantle residency in collaboration with @incheonartplatform Jsuk extracted unique and mesmerising textures effortlessly after only a brief tour of the @signals_sound_laboratory , pushing our Motorola signal generators, video synthesisers and scientific test equipment to the limit. Great fun to witness. A whirlwind visit from a legend! 🎶 It was such a treat having @nickmulvey drop by the lab recently. Nick took a quick breather from his Dark Harvest world tour to catch up with his long-time friend (and our new lab collaborator!) @unclejoecro a.k.a. @astralprojektstudio The highlight?
