Basement is pleased to announce and then i shed my skin, a collaborative exhibition marking the first joint presentation by Anika Larsen, Marina Rønnow Honoré, and Siggy Savery.
Opening June 26, the exhibition brings together three distinct yet interconnected practices in a spatial and sensorial dialogue that unfolds across visual and sonic registers. Rooted in themes of metamorphosis, exposure, and cyclical renewal, and then i shed my skin proposes a shared vocabulary of transformation- physical, emotional, and conceptual.
The public is invited to the opening reception from 3–8 PM, where the artists will be present. The evening continues from 8–11 PM with a live DJ set and a pop up performance of
@e.trash_ and Siggy performing a performance of “RAW/FLESH/FORM - a sensory collapse”, extending the exhibition into a resonant, multi-sensory encounter.
@anikalarsen_ / Anika Larsen presents photographic works alongside a suite of uncanny, hyperrealistic spandex sculptures. Her practice examines the tension between synthetic textures and embodied perception, offering a visceral reading of tactility, memory, and the artificial skin we inhabit.
@pro_perleprinter / Marina Rønnow Honoré contributes a series of meticulously rendered pieces composed of melted plastic beads, based on AI-generated imagery. Her work probes the slippage between the organic and the constructed, reflecting on visual density, surface illusion, and digital mythologies.
@siggysavery / Siggy Savery activates the space through an enveloping sound installation composed of processed vocals, industrial textures, and cyclical sonic structures. Her immersive compositions investigate rupture and renewal, tracing interior landscapes through audio that is as provocative and transformative.
