This double bill brings together two complementary ensembles from Belgium’s experimental music scene, each presenting a distinct approach to improvisation and real-time sound processing.
music for hiccups, featuring Chiara Bacci
@chiarabacci__ (voice and FX) and Nicola Lancerotti (modular synthesizer and live electronics), develops a continuous dialogue between modified voice andmodular electronics. Through attentive listening and live processing, the duo produces shifting sound structures in which vocal material and electronic sound frequently intersect, sometimes blurring the lines between the two sources.
ma.wi.by contrast, combines acoustic and electronic elements through a distinct improvisation approach: Daniele Martini
@danielemartini77 (saxophone, FX) explores the acoustic possibilities ofthe instrument using extended techniques and hardware effects, while Franziska Windisch
@franziska_windisch (laptop, Pure Data) employs custom-made programming to capture, transform, and spatialize the sound in real time. Within their performances, melodic and noisy events, accidental rhythms, and textured tones converge into a spontaneously evolving sonic situation. The tour will take place in several major cities along the east coast of China, with performances at established venues such as JZ in Hangzhou, Smoke and XiaoZu in Beijing, and GeBi in Yiwu,as well as more recently founded spaces including Back Alley in Tianjin and Trigger in Shanghai. The project also includes a collaboration with the China Academy of Art in Hangzhouand the Contemporary Music Academy of Beijing.
