Cotonou, we’re getting close⏳📽️ We hope you have your calendars saved & circled for the 6th of Feb, as we hit the road yet once again for the #SSScotonouedition during the @fiffcotonou Festival 2026.📌 Brace yourselves for an evening of five fantastic African short films, all made by women filmmakers ✨. Here is what we have lined up for you: 1.La Lanterne — directed by @behanzinnelly 🇧🇯 Adjokê, a 12-year-old girl, is expected to keep her lantern lit as her family sinks under poverty and illness. Confined & threatened by a tormentor, she draws strength from spiritual exchanges with her grandmother, holding onto dreams of freedom passed down through Iya Zinmè. 2.Transaction — directed by Wanjeri Gakuru 🇰🇪 On the night she turns 25, Waks sneaks out for a planned first sexual experience at a city lodging. Nervous & overwhelmed by touch, the encounter triggers memories of lifelong fat-shaming and forces her to confront her inner critic as she takes charge of decisions about her body. 3.Goat — directed by Judy Kibinge @elliotsmomloveslife 🇰🇪 City lovers Suki and Benjamin arrive at a remote goat farm, where Suki realises she’s been deceived about the trip. Witnessing the brutal slaughter of a goat under a Mugumo tree pulls her into visions of ancestral debt and a bloodline demanding escape. 4.I Think I Should Say Something — directed by @mbali_thefilmmaker 🇿🇦 A young woman’s hair appointment takes an unexpected turn when her overconfident hairdresser makes her uncomfortable. In the noise and pressure of a busy salon, she must find the courage to speak up. 5. Amplified (SUKOUN) — directed by @dina.naser_ 🇵🇸 After a violating incident at her Karate centre, Hind, a hearing-impaired athlete, experiences her world become distorted. Through a sensory-driven narrative shaped by sound and silence, the film follows her as she navigates pain and searches for a way to reclaim her power. **This will be followed by an open Q&A with the filmmakers** Don your comfiest shorts 🩳 and see you at Village Kaya from 7PM. Shots will be available 🍻 as is the SSS way (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, we’ve got your taste buds covered😉 See you soon!🇧🇯🫶🏽

EN 🎬 This was … Shorts, Shorts & Shots! Last Sunday, on October 19th, @mydocubox brought its iconic short film event back to Nairobi. Since 2018, @shortsshortsshots has been a meeting point for filmmakers and audiences. Diving deep into the vibrant world of African and diasporic cinema, the 2025 edition was centered around the powerful theme 'Through Our Eyes - #WeAreAllAfricans'. ✨ 'We believe in changing the world through impactful films.' Displayed on screen during the event, this phrase perfectly captures what Shorts, Shorts & Shots is all about. Through bold short film screenings, masterclasses, open conservations and live music and DJ sets, Docubox curated a space to celebrate African storytelling and explore cultural identities. A night to remember! Africalia supported the 2025 edition of Shorts, Shorts & Shots through our initiative for cultural projects in Nairobi. THROUGH OUR EYES: #ShortsShortsShots2025 WAS PURE MAGIC! What. A. Night. 😍 On October 19th, Shalom House Gardens transformed into Nairobi’s ultimate celebration of African creativity, style & storytelling — where film, food, fashion, and music collided in one unforgettable vibe. From the mind-blowing VFX & AI Masterclass with the wizard himself @kookithinji , to drum circles, Afro-street food, and dazzling African flair — #WeAreAllAfricans came alive in every sound, colour & frame. We laughed through Story za Njamba by @david_waronja , reflected on identity with HOME by @adelleonyango , and vibed to the fierce fashion of The Incredible Sensational Fiancé of Ajayi by @abbmona . Not to forget the cinematic horsepower of Irabura: The Odyssey by rkambua & @isayaevans More than just films — Through Our Eyes was a mirror of who we are. Hosted by @nyokabi_macharia , #SSS2025 made us feel films, personally, joyfully, unapologetically African. As night fell, the air pulsed with @liboi ’s live set, Afro-house beats, and our signature call: 👉🏾 Watch Shorts. Wear Shorts. Take Shots. 👈🏾 Massive love to @mydocubox x @nbofilmfest with support from @africalia.belgium & DGD 🇧🇪 for keeping the fire of African storytelling burning bright! 🔥 📸 Vibes by @odoshesgallery @short.wave @mgt_creatives @davemutindaa #WeAreAllAfricans #ThroughOurEyes #AfricanCinema #SSS2025 #NBOFilmFest #AfricanStorytelling
