It’s been a year today since the stroke.
I didn’t know a thing about them or what caused them til I got one. To get the worst one, a hemorrhagic, made me want to learn about them. I look back on what I could’ve done to avoid it from happening.
As most of you know, the DJ lifestyle isn’t the healthiest.
Too many late nights, bad diet and lack of sleep took its toll on me over the decades and knowing what I know now, I wish I did better. But it’s the wake up call I needed to get myself in order. Moving forward with the 2nd chance at life I’ve been given, I’m trying to this time around.
For those curious, I’m still numb on my left side from my shoulder to my foot. I feel pins and needles in my fingertips when I touch a turntable platter, which is better than feeling nothing a few months ago. I’ve been continuing therapy at the hospital and DJing encompasses speech, occupational and physical therapy which has helped my recovery process.
Now, I’ve been getting better rest, exercising daily and trying to watch what I eat. I’m 80 lbs lighter now and i’m feeling more energetic than I used to every morning I wake up. It’s still work in progress, but I’m keeping a positive attitude to get to my goals.
Thank God, my family and friends, the team at
@sutterhealth Alta Bates Summit Rehabilitation, and thank you to everyone around the world for the love and amazing support you’ve given me. I couldn’t have gone this far without any of you.
I’m grateful to still be alive, to still be with my loved ones ,and still be able to do what I love.
