When you have a hammer that costs a lot of money, and works super well, everything starts to look like a nail!
This was supposed to be a funny make our friends laugh project that I fear may have become a permanent art installation in their bathroom.

We have been using ShopBot CNCs in the workshop for the last 20 years, and our latest machines were due for a tune-up.
So ShopBot flew Brian Owen over from the States to recalibrate our machines, fine-tune the routines, and share some insight on maintaining that efficiency and accuracy ourselves going forward.
None of us came from an engineering background, so having that level of expertise on the floor was invaluable.
Massive thanks to Brian and the team at @shopbottools for the visit and continued support over the years.

While the engraving on powder coated enclosures didn’t cut all the way through, it sure is precise and sparked lots of ideas about other applications for elaborate pattern designs.
It will certainly be more noticeable on unpainted pedal enclosures, and GREAT for custom designs on anodized aluminum pickguards, cavity covers, pickup covers and more.

The Stargate served as an entry way into a party and looked strikingly💯 realistic.
Thanks to Professor E for the wonderful opportunity to work on this project, I learned a lot and it ended up SO SO cool.

These ramps were fun and quick to make on the ShopBot some years ago. Cutting perfect transitions with pockets for accurate and even rib support placement made assembly smooth and fast. #shopbot30
Patrick Mullins of @wearerougeva builds his immersive theater productions out of his studio at @757makerspace . Each show grows a different team and a new layer of craft. Members, collaborators, artists. And new technology they learn, adapt, and build into the experience.
For “What Remains” at @hermitagemuseumva , that included spatial audio through headsets that guided you through the house. And parts of the set built here. Thom White @thom_f_white , architect and member, designed and cut the pieces himself on our @shopbottools CNC. First time flying solo at this scale on a tool like this. The detail and craft in every piece shows.
