Our East River Waterfront Masterplan has been selected for the Built by Woman 2026: NYC map by the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation (@bwaf.nyc ), a juried initiative spotlighting innovative women-led projects shaping the city.
Stretching over 2.5 miles, the plan transforms Manhattan’s edge, bringing together the East River Esplanade, Piers 15, 17, & 35, and the Tin Building into a welcoming, resilient public realm. Once defined by industry and infrastructure, it’s now a sequence of parks and gathering spaces that reconnect New Yorkers to their river and to each other.
We’re proud to celebrate the incredible women who led the SHoP team: Angelica Baccon, @dana.getman , Cathy Jones, and @andreia__teixeira__ , alongside collaborators Lisa Switkin (@fieldoperations ), Elise Quasebarth and Erin Rulli (Higgins Quasebarth & Partners).
SHoP has been selected to continue to support the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Building Operations (OBO) in its mission to deliver high quality, effective facilities for U.S. diplomacy around the world. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with OBO to create buildings that fulfill complex programmatic requirements, thoughtfully respond to their urban and natural surroundings, and inspire everyday occupants.

Their leadership, dedication, and impact on our office and work have been outstanding, and we’re so excited to see them take this next step. Since joining SHoP in 2013, Anneli Rice has advanced architectural technologies as a means to foster community, ecology, and resilience across complex, large-scale projects, including the transformation of the Ion Building into the vibrant prototype of a Rice University-led innovation district, and the design of a new benchmark workspace for Atlassian’s Sydney Headquarters. Anneli holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Rice University, where she was awarded the Rosemary Watkin Barrick Fellowship.
John has spent fourteen years contributing to SHoP’s innovative practice. He bridges design and delivery, manages complexity, and builds lasting client relationships in all of his projects, including Barclays Center, Nassau Coliseum, GMs’ new headquarters at Hudson’s Detroit, Volvo Cars’ new headquarters in Gothenburg Sweden, and towers in Batumi, Georgia and Gurgaon, India. He has taught at several universities, including the Pratt Institute School of Architecture, and holds a Masters degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.

We’re so thrilled to celebrate the groundbreaking of the John S. McCain Library and Museum at Arizona State University (ASU) yesterday evening. The McCain Library and Museum will be an 80,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility located on a 22-acre site overlooking Tempe Town Lake, across from ASU’s Tempe campus. Envisioned as both a gathering place and a community resource, the new facility will host programs that foster civic dialogue, leadership development, and democratic exchange, with the mission of educating and inspiring future generations of leaders.
It’s been an honor to partner with the McCain family and ASU on this pivotal project. As a place for exchange and engagement, our focus is on what the building does—how it fosters connection and serves as a catalyst for advancing the combined missions of the McCain legacy and ASU.
Senator John McCain’s commitment to protecting Arizona’s wilderness and public landmarks reflects a fundamental respect for the land’s integrity. Our building embodies that same philosophy of land stewardship: rather than dominating or disrupting the natural environment, it maintains a symbiotic relationship with it, becoming part of the ecosystem.

Our 55 Pitt Street Tower in Sydney, Australia, designed in collaboration with @woodsbagot , is unveiling its new terracotta facade, installed by @core_fdm and @bmwindows.vn .
The layered terracotta design brings warmth, texture and depth to the building, and responds beautifully to light, giving the building a distinctive identity and reinventing the commercial tower through a fusion of sustainable innovation and heritage inspiration.
A big shout out to @mirvacdesign , our fantastic client group, and the SHoP team who have worked on this project since 2020, and who have brought their creativity and in-house digital expertise to realize this complex facade. Thanks also to our partners @prism_facades for helping bring this design vision to life!

The Department at Hudson’s is a global destination that brings people together and inspires innovation. Modular furniture specification treats the venue like a living set, with care taken to select inclusive furniture that supports a wide range of abilities for end users.

Today, Metropolitan Park was approved by the New York State Gaming Commission for a downstate gaming license, marking the final approval required in the process.
Metropolitan Park will become New York City’s first true sports and entertainment district—centered between baseball at Citi Field, tennis at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, and professional soccer coming soon to Willets Point. 25 acres of new public park space will invite fans and neighbors to gather and relax.
Metropolitan Park is the result of more than three years of community engagement, including over 1,000 stakeholder meetings and nearly 45,000 doors knocked. The community’s input is reflected in every detail of this project. Today’s approval brings us closer to delivering that shared vision—turning 50 acres of asphalt into a vibrant sports and entertainment district that puts the community first and that New York City will be proud of!

Brooklyn Tower draws directly from the architectural language of the landmarked Dime Savings Bank, extending its Art Deco geometry into a new vertical form. Terracotta and bronze panels echo the bank’s carved ornamentation, while faceted spandrels reinterpret its rhythmic fluting at a metropolitan scale. The tower becomes a contemporary expression of a historic design vocabulary, carrying the bank’s craftsmanship upward into the skyline.
