Forgive me. . . I CANNOT POSSIBLY PLAY IT COOL RIGHT NOW !!!!!!! It seems too simple to say that it’s a dream come true, BUT IT REALLY, REALLY ISSSSS. And I know that sounds silly because, it’s just a thing. And while it isn’t about the thing, it IS about what this thing represents. This small but mighty treasure means nothing about me. It means nothing about merit or the silly game of measuring art against itself. But, to me, it does mean everything about dreaming. Because dreaming gets us creating. Dreaming gets us saying yes and taking risks and being scared shitless and doing it anyway. It’s what keeps us alive. It’s what gets us out of bed, putting one foot in front of the other. It’s what shatters our hearts and puts them back together again and gives our life meaning and purpose. It’s what expands our humanity and our realities. It’s what we did before anyone could tell us that’s what we were doing. We were dreaming. From prayers, to wishes, to passwords, to vision boards, to the sacredness of every Grammy Sunday in my home for decades. . .this tiny but weighty treasure is just evidence. Evidence that dreams do come true. And it isn’t the true part that matters most. . .it was all the coming in the middle. That’s where the good stuff was.
So every time I look at this sexy and weighty breadcrumb from the universe. . .it will serve as evidence. It will serve as a reminder.
