Olakunle Akinsete, Ibadan South-West II: Same Person, Different Platform The political landscape of Ibadan South-West II witnesses a significant shift as Olakunle Akinsete formally aligns with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), marking a strategic transition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This move underscores a calculated decision driven by the imperative to enhance service delivery, deepen grassroots engagement, and pursue a more responsive representation for the people of the constituency. It is not a departure from core values or political philosophy, but rather a repositioning toward a platform that better accommodates his vision for inclusive growth and sustainable development. Akinsete remains consistent in ideology—people-centered, development-focused, and firmly rooted in community dynamics. His track record of accessibility, empowerment initiatives, and sustained presence across Ibadan South-West II continues to define his political identity. While acknowledging the role the PDP played in shaping his political experience, Akinsete emphasizes that the transition to APM reflects the need for a more agile and result-oriented framework through which the aspirations of the people can be effectively actualized. For constituents and supporters, the message is clear: the platform may have changed, but the commitment remains unwavering. The mission is intact—to deliver impactful representation, foster unity, and drive measurable progress. Same person. Different platform. Renewed momentum for Ibadan South-West II.

As the consensus decision draws closer, Olakunle Akinsete (Shete) clearly remains the most compelling choice for Ibadan South-West Constituency II. The moment demands a leader who is firmly on ground and deeply attuned to the realities and needs of the people. IBSW II requires representation that cuts across all demographics—someone with proven capacity, an established track record, and genuine affinity with every segment of the electorate. Shete embodies these critical qualities. His grassroots connection, inclusive approach, and political maturity position him as the unifying figure capable of delivering effective, people-centered representation for the constituency.

A critical assessment of the current political climate reveals a growing demand for a representative who not only understands the grassroots but has also demonstrated the ability to translate ideas into meaningful outcomes. Akinsete fits squarely into this expectation. His track record of community-based interventions, youth empowerment initiatives, and consistent engagement with stakeholders reflects a leader who is not just visible during election cycles, but actively involved in the day-to-day realities of the people. What gives Akinsete a clear edge within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is his rare combination of competence and practical governance experience. Serving as Special Adviser on Housing and Urban Development, he has acquired firsthand knowledge of policy formulation, implementation, and inter-agency collaboration

Few weekends ago, I had the privilege of serving as host at Hon. Olakunle Akinshete’s “Active Life for Senior Citizens” program — a thoughtful initiative focused on promoting fitness, wellness, and social connection among the elderly in Oyo State. It wasn’t just an exercise session; it was a reminder that staying active is a lifelong responsibility, and that community plays a huge role in making that possible. As a host, my responsibility was to drive engagement, manage the flow of activities, and create an atmosphere that felt welcoming and energetic. Beyond coordination, it was about connecting with the participants, ensuring they were comfortable, and making the entire experience lively and inclusive. Opportunities like this continue to reinforce my versatility and effectiveness in using my voice and presence to shape meaningful events. The highlight of the day was the energy from the senior citizens themselves — actively participating, encouraging one another, and embracing the moment with genuine joy. Programs like this are essential because they go beyond physical exercise; they help improve mental health, reduce loneliness, and strengthen bonds among peers who share similar stages of life. Initiatives of this nature reflect intentional leadership. @shetecfr commitment to creating impact at the grassroots level speaks volumes about his vision for community development. Supporting the elderly through structured wellness programs is not only commendable, it is necessary in building a healthier and more inclusive society. As he aspires to represent Ibadan Southwest Constituency II at the House of Representatives, it becomes important to recognize and support leaders who have demonstrated capacity through action. I encourage everyone to pay attention to initiatives like this and rally behind individuals who are already making tangible differences within the community. 🎥: @shotby_ola @olatittude
