Earlier today, we attended the inauguration and commissioning of the office for the Violent Crimes Response Unit by the Oyo State Police Command. This timely intervention will strengthen the security architecture of Oyo State and ensure that our people continue to live, work and raise their families in peace. In my remarks, I stated that we are working with security agencies to get clarity on the painful abduction of students and teachers in Oriire LGA yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families that have lost their loved ones. May the souls of the departed rest in peace. These incidents remind us that security cannot be taken for granted, and that government must remain proactive, vigilant and responsive at all times.

Earlier today, we attended Day 2 of the International Tourism Summit Oyo State 2026 themed “From Groundwork to Governance…Building Tourism that Endures”. Let me once again thank my brother, His Excellency, Dr Kayode Fayemi for gracing the occasion with his presence and delivering the Special Guest Address. This third edition of #ITSOyoState2026, focused on putting structures in place in the tourism sector that last beyond administrations. Specifically, the 25 Year Tourism Master Plan Framework and the Eleyele Lake Development Framework were presented. Read my keynote address titled, “Continuity and Institutionalisation”

Today, with the aim of safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy, we hosted a national summit that brought together opposition political party leaders, members of civil society and other relevant stakeholders. As I said in my welcome remarks, democracy is not defined by the success of one party. It is defined by the existence of real alternatives, by the ability of citizens to choose, and by the confidence that those choices matter. So, let me once again, thank everyone who participated in our deliberations and ensured that the Ibadan Declaration 2026 was birthed.

Thoroughly enjoyed the conversation about industrialisation and leadership in Africa which took place yesterday at @HarvardBizGov . I had to field tough questions about continuity from a well-informed and diverse audience. Prior to the conversation, I had delivered a presentation themed “From First Office to Lasting Impact: Industrialisation, Leadership, and the Discipline of Continuity”.

Yesterday, on the sidelines of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Forum, we met with Jamie Cooper, founding Chair and President of Big Win Philanthropy, a charitable foundation which partners with African leaders to transform the lives of children and young people. In Oyo State, Big Win Philanthropy is interested in tourism specifically the creative industry and its potential to create jobs for young people. They are also interested in urban renewal supporting the pre-construction phase of the 110 km Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project development corridor as well as galvanising investors for it. I’m happy to report that the Oyo State Government is the first sub national they have engaged and they plan to use this as entry point to engage more sub national governments.

Pleased to have been part of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Forum which took place 19-22 April 2026. As part of the programme, I was privileged to meet various leaders including former president of Tanzania His Excellency Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete. Part of the requirement for the programme was outlining the legacy goals of our administration by looking at the top priorities of the government, the top priorities of citizens and how our administration has worked to address both.
