Sherman turns 8 YEARS OLD today! "I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to the amazing people we worked with and everyone who has supported Sherman this past year. Much love to @palacio_palace and @desertgabberz , two crews with truly genuine people who understand the context of what we do and what matters most. It has been such a privilege to host some of our largest and most special productions yet with them. 2025 was incredibly chaotic, but it has proven the strength that we hold when we come together. The capacity to which we are able to support each other through the times we are facing never ceases to be anything short of amazing. Thank you to everyone who made memories with us and everyone who continues to make those memories possible. We wouldn't be here without you. Its been a whole year since Sherman & Palacio Palace's THE WORMHOLE, the night where 7 of LA's heaviest hitting live acts opened up the portal to another dimension, live from the San Fernando Valley. The Castlemorton Common Festival of 1992 is the largest illegal rave recorded in history, lasting seven full days and amassing a total crowd of 30,000 people. In May 1992, as new age travellers and sound system tribes Spiral Tribe, DiY, Circus Warp, Bedlam, Adrenaline and more attempted to enter the common land around Bristol to set up the Avon Free Festival, an event which had commenced annually for several years, they were met with a police force which diverted them to go elsewhere. As more and more travelers looking for the Avon Free Festival were diverted north, their convoys snowballed dramatically in number, resulting in a massive crowd landing at the Castlemorton common land around Worcestershire. The resulting festival was massive on a scale never seen before in the history of the UK, and in a week's time, the world. Many who attended the festival described it as a mini city. James Dalrymple of the Times accounts that the festival had “...full catering facilities, a large-scale drug distribution system and their own internal police force.” It drew attention from just about every news source in the country, only attracting more and more ravers to make the journey to Castlemorton. Some joke that the BBC was the biggest rave promoter that week. This event was the apotheosis of growing tension between the vehemently anti-establishment rave culture of the UK and the hardliner conservative Tory Government. The fierce wave of laws and crackdowns that came in the aftermath of Castlemorton Common Festival is why many deem it the rave that changed dance music forever.
