🐉🌹And so the Dragon journey begins. Family pilgrimage to Empúries, Catalonia, Spain. Mother’s Day to the Mother Goddess… What a gift to walk the liminal threshold together where the river Fluvià at foot of the Pyrenean Dragon spine meets the wide arc of the Mediterranean Sea. This is a powerful confluence of telluric power where the Earth current rises, the veil thins, and a temple dedicated to Artemis was built. In the ancient world, the Phocaeans (Greeks from the coast of Asia Minor / neighbors of Ephesus modern day Turkey) came here after the Persian armies had taken their homeland. They carried with them sacred knowledge, ritual and devotion to the Great Mother. Here they raised a temple to Artemis. Not the huntress of later myth, but the original Melissonomoi Goddess, the Queen Bee, venerated by her priestesses, the bee keepers. The roots of this Artemis back to Çatalhöyük, to the first carved Mother of 7000 BC. The Church of Sant Martí stands here today, built in 1538, on a 10th century church, on a late antique basilica, on the very foundations of the Artemis temple. The temple stones became the walls of the church raised to replace her. Yet, the Goddess energy is still here and the Dragon Magick is remains alive through both the seen and unseen. How wild that current road of the original Artemis Temple bears my birth name: Carrer Miranda. Nearby is the Asclepion, where pilgrims slept on stone floors after purification, to commune with Asclepius in the dreaming realms and learn more of their healing. An Egyptian layer is also present. The Serapieion here dedicated to Isis & Serapis is where initiates would undergo rituals of death and rebirth. Holy holy holy, a part of ancient Kemet is rooted here in Catalonia. The awe inspiring remains of mosaic floors in the later Roman part of the city carry the sacred geometry patterns of flower of life and the spirals of time. We wrapped our 3rd Annual Mens Retreat @casasoulwater a few days ago. So much camaraderie, personal growth, great surf (two history making sessions completely to ourselves), sauna/ice sessions and truly amazing plant based food via @gloflexhealthbar_iguana & @gracevanberkum_ - We hold big time gratitude to all of crew that joined us this year! Thank you all for showing up for yourselves and one another, making it such an all time immersive experience.
