For many, it has always been horses. For some it comes later. For me (yes here comes my horse girl story) I had my first lesson on a big buckskin, conveniently named Buck. I’m not sure it was my decision at the time, I was 4, but my older sister was taking lessons and quite honestly I think it was my mom’s convenience that made the decision for me. Thing was, joke was on her. My teenage sister lost interest pretty quickly and mine just exploded.. By 7 I was in a Hunter/Jumper program, showing over fences on lesson horses and by my 10th birthday I had my first pony. After that it was two Junior Hunter mares and one Show jumper lease for the summer before heading off to college.
It would be 20 years before having my own horse again and another 10 before stepping into a show ring, but I did it, thanks @grandviewfarmsla and it was glorious. The 13-year-olds in my medal class were so jealous. (That’s a joke, I doubt they were jealous at all)
I guess the point I’m trying to make is WE, as horse girls, or whatever it is you want to call us people that can’t step away from the equestrian world, have the horse “magic” in us. It’s inherent. It’s more than just a lifestyle, it’s just life.

Loving all of this. You know sometimes it just pisses me off! It becomes the year of the horse and then every brand on the planet wants a shoot with the horse, but they don't shoot with photographers that actually know how to shoot with horses. How 'd that shoot go? How much AI did you have to use after the fact?
Shooting with animals is problematic, especially if you don't understand the animal or the Model has no clue what they're doing with the animal. Sometimes you just have to stick with those who know wtf they're doing that's all I'm gonna say.
