For nonprofits, an annual report is a powerful storytelling tool that communicates mission impact, builds donor trust, recognizes community support, and highlights the real lives being transformed through the organization’s work.
This year’s report showcased The Shea Center’s growth and impact through client success stories, program highlights, volunteer and donor recognition, financial stewardship, and meaningful community outcomes made possible through equine-assisted services.
Creative Vortex was honored to bring this vision to life through an integrated approach combining strategic color direction, graphic design, layout development, visual storytelling, and project management. Every detail was intentionally crafted to create a cohesive, engaging, and mission-driven piece that reflects the warmth, professionalism, and heart of The Shea Center brand.

After nine months of planning, The Shea Center was proud to welcome 136 attendees to the @path.intl Region 11 Conference this April 🐴💙
As the international governing body for therapeutic horseback riding and equine assisted services, PATH Intl. sets industry standards and provides accreditation, certification, and education to professionals across the field.
We were especially honored to have so many of our talented staff, board members, and clients help present throughout the conference—sharing their knowledge, experiences, and passion with attendees from across the region.
From breakout sessions on horse care, volunteer engagement, fundraising, leadership, and equine assisted services to hands-on workshops combining horsemanship and therapy techniques, attendees gained valuable tools and insights to strengthen their programs and expand their impact.
We were also proud to showcase our partnership with @ocfireauthority during a special pre-conference focused on large animal rescue training for firefighters and first responders.
Most importantly, the conference created meaningful opportunities for connection, inspiration, and shared learning among an incredible community committed to making a difference through equine assisted services.

From her very first ride, Emma found something special at The Shea Center 🐴💙
Seventeen-year-old Emma began riding last December and quickly formed a meaningful connection with her horse, Warrior. With the support of her instructor Sarina, each session is thoughtfully structured to support her growth—combining encouragement with clear, positive feedback that helps her build confidence step by step.
The calm, supportive environment allows Emma to feel safe, focused, and willing to try new things. Since starting, she has made strong physical gains, improving her balance, posture, and arm strength through riding and hands-on barn tasks like untacking her horse.
Beyond her progress in the arena, Emma has developed a deep love for the barn community. She enjoys grooming, joins barn walks, and proudly recognizes each horse by name—finding joy and connection in every visit.
Emma’s journey is one of growth, confidence, and belonging, and we are so proud to be part of it through equine assisted services 💙

Last week, nearly 50 volunteers from @coxcommunications & @coxbusiness joined us at The Shea Center, rolling up their sleeves to refresh eight horse turnouts 🐴—creating a safer, more comfortable environment for the horses at the heart of our equine assisted services.
Their day began with a ribbon cutting ✂️ celebrating our new digital information boards at the barn (see yesterday’s post), followed by meaningful hands-on work that made an immediate and lasting impact. They also toured the barn and spent time with our therapy horse, Easy.

Big upgrade at the barn! 🐴✨ Thanks to funding from the James M. Cox Foundation through a recent technology grant, we now have new digital information boards displaying real-time lesson schedules for staff and volunteers—streamlining communication and giving our team more time to focus on what matters most.
We celebrated with a ribbon cutting ✂️ alongside @coxcommunications@coxbusiness ahead of their volunteer workday with almost 50 employees 👏 (more to come tomorrow!). A special thank you to Jeff Scott and his team for executing this project with our staff from start to finish.
