Peace Officers Memorial Day serves as a reminder of the dedication shown each day by those who work to protect our communities.
Today we honor the lives, service, and sacrifice of law enforcement officers who gave everything in the line of duty. We remember them and stand with their families, loved ones, and colleagues.

How it started vs. how it’s going: Motherhood Edition 💗
To the moms at the OCFA, thank you for showing up for your families and your community every day. Happy Mother’s Day!
Firefighters were on scene of a house fire within five minutes and had the fire knocked down in just six minutes at a home on Jacalene Lane in Garden Grove at about 1 p.m. today.
With reports of someone possibly inside, firefighters located one person who had exited prior to our arrival and was evaluated by firefighter paramedics.
Thank you to our partners @AnaheimFireAndRescue and @GardenGrovePD .
At 3:14 p.m., firefighters responded to a vegetation fire near Avenida La Pata and Calle Amanecer in @CityOfSanClemente . Crews quickly held the fire to just one acre with strong work on the ground, while our OCFA FIREHAWK helicopters supported overhead. No structures were damaged and nobody was injured.
With an OCFA Unmanned Aerial System overhead, firefighters remain on scene extinguishing hot spots. Thank you @OCSDSanClemente for the assistance.
National Nurses Week is May 6-12, a time to recognize and thank the dedicated nurses supporting OCFA’s emergency response.
Our team consists of 8 nurse educators, a nurse educator supervisor and an EMS coordinator. Through ongoing training and education, they help ensure our crews are ready to provide the highest level of care when it matters most.
Firefighters responded to Dove Canyon Golf Club in @RSMCity at 11:37 a.m. for a vegetation fire and stopped the forward progress in under 30 minutes, holding the fire to less than 3/4 acre. No homes were threatened and no injuries were reported.
There were reports of a drone flying over the fire while our OCFA FIREHAWK was operating overhead. Drones can endanger firefighters on the ground and in the air, interfere with critical firefighting helicopter operations, and put the community at risk.
If you fly, we can’t. Thank you for grounding your drone so we can defend our community.
Thank you @OCSDRanchoSM for the assistance.
What do you see here?
You see an OCFA FIREHAWK snorkeling water from a heli-hydrant. But look closer. This moment is about far more than water.
• It’s the planning that keeps turnaround times between water drops to just minutes.
• It’s what supplied our OCFA FIREHAWKS — capable of hover-filling 1,000 gallons of water in just 60 seconds — with the 36,000 gallons they dropped on the Carbon Fire.
• It’s the ability to land and refuel at the same location, getting the helicopters back in the fight faster.
• It’s the partnerships that make a rapid, multi-agency response effective.
• It’s the execution of a coordinated plan that supports the safety of firefighters on the front lines while helping defend our communities.
What looks simple in this video is a powerful example of preparation, teamwork, and trust.
Watch it again and tell us what you see.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire from a second-story condo on Via Luis in @CityOfLagunaNiguel around 11:30 this morning. A second alarm was requested as firefighters worked through heavy storage conditions to contain the flames and search the home. Firefighter paramedics treated and transported one man who suffered burn injuries as he escaped.
Firefighters held the flames to just one unit, saving the adjoining condos from the fire.
Thank you @OCSDLagunaNiguel and @Laguna_Beach_Fire_Department for the assistance.

Happy National Nurses Week! The Orange County Fire Authority is proud to have a highly trained team of nurse educators, a nurse educator supervisor, and an EMS coordinator.
Their work is a cornerstone of our commitment to exceptional emergency care. While our paramedics and firefighters respond to your 911 calls, behind the scenes our nurse educators are providing education, training, and expertise that prepares our crews to serve the community every day.
Honored to be recognized by the American Red Cross with the Animal Welfare Award at their Orange County Heroes Awards at the Richard Nixon Library.

A year ago, OCFA Technical Rescue and Air Operations crews carried out what’s believed to be the first night vision goggle helicopter rescue of a large animal in the U.S. — saving Deuce the horse after he became trapped in a ravine in San Juan Capistrano.
Â
With the horse sedated by a veterinarian on scene, rescuers rigged and hoisted Deuce to safety and then carefully lowered him at the @SheaCenter , where crews then assisted him back to standing — saving his life.
Â
A true team effort and a rescue we won’t forget. Thank you to @SoCalRedCross for this meaningful recognition and for highlighting the care, compassion, and professionalism that made this outcome possible.
