Summer days have begun and these photos from @chanel.beauty reflect it. Happy to have applied the makeup on such a beautiful spirit. Gold accents, bronzed skin, pearly highlights and metallic blue on eyes to stand out at night. My old pal and partner in makeup Liz Martins just posted this picture in her Stories. It was taken just after Lee McQueen's second show for Givenchy, styled by Katy England with hair by Nicolas Jurnjack. We all look happy and relieved, as you often feel after a successful show. Val Garland and I shared the leadership, which was unheard of, but Lee wanted people he could trust. Charlotte Tilbury assisted Val in those days and I had Liz as my number one, who turned up for work in Paris late, after a session in Shoreditch. That was how we rolled, but we held each other up. Reminiscing, we wish we'd been more professional, but you grow and learn and not everybody survives, so be grateful for your glory days and look ahead! Thanks to all who were part of this journey and experience.

When we set out for the Villa Reale Di Marlia, just outside Florence, it was bright and sunny. We planned to shoot outside in the beautiful gardens, so I was careful to protect our model Caren with my go-to sunscreen and moisturiser by Dr Sam Bunting. It gave a lovely sheen to her skin, on face and body, and along with some sparkling high jewellery, we were all set to start. Photographer David Vasiljevic had taken just a few shots, when we heard the rumbling of thunder. The heavens opened, so we quickly collected our kits and ran inside, where we stayed all day while the rain poured down in sheets. I've never seen so much fall in one day... I thought we'd have to be picked up by boat! Unexpected weather can be a nuisance on location, but makes the experience more of a memory, and you just have to deal with it as best you can. Fortunately David had a hand-held flashlight and Sophia Neophitou always keeps spirits up, no matter how damp the circumstances. I jumped at the chance to work with super stylist Kim Howells for this jewellery story with fave photographer Arved... It's always a pleasant day at his studio, and he plays some great tunes. Our model Ashley shone as brightly as the gemstones, and there was plenty of colour to inspire the makeup. Nails were beautifully polished by Jessica, and I was impressed by hairdresser Alex Sarghe; even though there wasn't much to do, he did it impeccably. Big thanks to CHANEL for the products, especially Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint in Deep and Bronzing Creme in Soleil Tan Deep Bronze, which give a luminous healthy glow. Sorbet magazine is gorgeous... it nods to the Middle East but has a global perspective and is well worth a browse. I was working with stylist and old friend Neil Stuart on an album cover when I mentioned I’d like to do something for Giannie Couji’s magazine, #Ubikwist. Neil said great, what do you think of this photographer, Matt Healy. I said wonderful, and before I knew it, the shoot was booked for the following Sunday. Amazing that we had Awek Gak as our model, who was both easy-going and energetic. I loved doing her makeup as quickly as she was changing outfits. Thanks to Craig Hamilton for his excellent assistance and to Ubikwist for another beautiful story.
