Another highlight from last month’s 6th Annual Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival with @sablesistersmusic
Sable Sisters is the brainchild of Grenadian-Canadian singer/songwriter @kaiakater and Atlanta-born, Fort Worth-based singer/songwriter @brandipacemusic . The duo gave their premiere performance at the 2023 Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival, and were joined this year by @shayfiddles
Kaia, Brandi, and Shanice all sing, write music, and play multiple instruments. Together their sound reflects their musical journeys through folk music, old time, jazz, and beyond. Here they are performing a rendition of Kaia Kater’s “Fédon.”

A woman from Pittsburgh stopped by and mentioned she saw them in Tsmpa recently. It was a really cool serenipitous event.

I feel so emotional going through videos of my time at @folk_alliance . This specific Folk North showcase felt so amazing because I planned on doing it solo but thanks to @shayfiddles playing fiddle and cajon , @sonicsignatureproductions on trumpet, @miralazuli on vocals, @hannah_mayree on banjo and @sharkkheartt on vocals, I got to experience my music in such a gorgeous band configuration and I feel so inspired!
Each one of these humans is INCREDIBLE and so talented so please follow them and check out what they are creating. They could have been doing so many other things that night but they decided to join me and I’ll never forget that (currently crying as I type this)! I just have so much gratitude for everyone’s willingness to just jump in last minute and make something very very beautiful together. I can’t wait to get to make sweet music with everyone again sometime (soon 🤞🏾)
