Marguerite Rodgers Interior Design transformed a dark 1970s townhouse in a tree lined Philadelphia neighbourhood into a refined urban family compound shaped by Dutch and Asian influences. The clients, experienced in international living, sought a sophisticated yet highly efficient retreat. What began as a modest structure evolved into a multi-level home arranged around an inner courtyard, with creative layouts and numerous outdoor spaces enhancing the sense of scale.
Marguerite Rodgers Interior Design has been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Americas Award in The International Design & Architecture Awards 2026.

Refined townhouse living - tailored and subtly esoteric. From the exterior, it is a building that acknowledges its fellow neighbors, understands them, and celebrates them as an honest 21st century expression. Sensitively embedded within the urban landscape, it is elegant, confident and at repose. The stucco facade, brick at the ground floor, and large steel casement windows are design elements gesturing to other contextual examples found on this street; their arrangement and composition intended to echo and enhance the character of the surrounding streetscape.

Our team approached this third chapter with a shared momentum + enthusiasm gathered from recent work together. Vertically ascending within a relatively modest footprint, the interior spaces are sequenced with themes and details conceived with skilled sophistication and executed with authentic craftsmanship. This new row house tucked away mid block on a sleepy, tree-lined residential street amplifies the simple pleasures in life. Inviting & serene, it inspires reflection and the embrace of nature-merging indoors, with the out. We are hypnotized by its spells of perfection.
