I never thought that filming my day was possible, because the curve balls that get thrown on some days are unimaginable lol.

All I can say is… WOW.
Yesterday was truly an amazing experience!
Being in a room with so many of my peers that I love and respect, and being an honoree was surreal. Being acknowledged by @la_reid while he was accepting his ICON award was equally surreal.
I know i preach all the time, “head down, and do the work” BUT i just want yall to know, that its also important to look up and celebrate yourself, and allow others to celebrate you.
I posted a quote last week, that i didnt expect to get reposted as much as it did, but it said “dont be too humble that you’re left out of history!” And I mean that!! Know your worth, honor yourself in the game that you serve! Accept your flowers.

It’s wild to look up and realize you’re actually out here doing the very thing you said you would do.
Lord knows it’s not easy - so to be clear, i’m definitely NOT here to glamorize entrepreneurship…
But KNIP keeps showing up. Every single time.
To think- we are showing up in every single space that I have touched throughout my career (and was GREAT at might I add lol) - and building it into one vertically integrated company

Hard? Yes.
Worth it? Absolutely.
The point of this is - your dreams will scare you. But what’s even scarier is letting them rot inside you while life keeps moving.
Don’t sit on it. Don’t overthink it. Move.
Because the only thing worse than failing… is never trying at all.

This is something I’ve said often, and I still stand on it today.
So much of this music business has shifted to chasing scale - and I get it. Growth models matter, they keep the industry moving. But in all of that, where does it leave the art?
To me, the tools we have today should be used to enhance the process, not replace it. The real magic is still in immersing yourself in an artist you truly believe in and helping their voice be heard. That’s not a lost art to me - it’s the part I’ll always honor as long as I’m in music.
Now, don’t get me wrong: the artist has to meet you halfway and put in the work. In fact, there’s more work required now than ever. But when that alignment is there - that’s when the magic happens.

Thank you @the_orchard_ & @billboard for creating space for such an important conversation. While the panel was titled “The Future of Hip Hop is Global,” I think it first reminded us of the IMPORTANCE of Hip Hop itself- why we have to preserve the very thing that raised us, influenced the WORLD, and gave people like myself and countless others the opportunity to provide.
Hip Hop has shaped culture in ways no other genre has. It evokes emotion in a way no other music can. And truth be told- it’s up to US to make sure it’s gatekept, in a sense, so we can protect its integrity. Yes, I said it. Unpopular opinion 🤷🏽♀️
The future of Hip Hop is bright. Let’s make sure it stays that way.
