As any savvy horror fan knows: the monster never truly dies. The team that brought you the bestselling dark fiction anthology Never Whistle at Night has risen, hungry, from the grave to summon more dark delicacies for your delectation. In these twenty-one brand-new, groundbreaking, gruesome storiesâauthored by both established and newly unearthed Indigenous talent and illustrated by renowned Cheyenne and Arapaho painter Brent Learnedâthe contributors are fully embracing horror: both supernatural horrors and the everyday horror of living under colonialist rule.
Featuring stories of unspeakable yet satisfying terror, from twisted psychological tales to gore-filled monster hunts, this new selection of sinister stories will sate your darkest appetites and leave you slavering for more. Never Whistle at Night, Part II: Back for Blood is a further celebration of Indigenous survival and the enduring tradition of transforming adversity into art.

Weâre thrilled to finally share the contributor list for Never Whistle at Night, Part II: Back for Blood, the sequel to our bestselling Indigenous horror anthology. Coming Fall 2026 from Vintage Books.
The process was intense. We received so many submissions during our open call last year. We built a longlist, reread everything, debated endlessly, and had to send out far more rejections than we wanted to. In the end, we brought together 21 stories to shape this bloodier, bolder, stranger follow-up.
Ten of those stories came directly from the open call. The rest were invited from a range of powerhouse Indigenous writersâmost brand new to the series, some returning.
Stephen Graham Jones, who wrote the first bookâs foreword, is back with a devastating story. Tommy Orange returns with something even creepier. And Richard Van Camp, who contributed a story last time, will write the foreword for Part II.
Weâre so proud of the mix: new voices, celebrated authors, and stories that push horror in bold directions. Edits begin now. We canât wait to share whatâs coming.
Thank you to everyone who submitted. Your trust and talent moved us deeply.

Yesterday was a blast! The FPC Book Club at Cal State San Bernardino hosted me for a talk with their members and staff. I spoke on the publishing journey of the first anthology, the importance of Indigenous Horror, background on my own contribution, and took great questions from the group. Everyone was so welcoming and kind. Two students in particular had conversations with me afterwards and they were endearing, shoutout to Perth and Samira. After we wrapped, the awesome FPC staffâPanda, Madi, and Michaelâtook me and some of the students, including FPC student staff Alicia & Johanna, to a noodle house (so good). They gifted me some badass Coyote bandanas before we parted ways! They are an awesome group, and I had such a good time. HohĂłĂș for everything. And before I left SB, I visited Carolann at her bookshop Quiet Quail Books to chat and sign some copies of NWAN. So great to meet in person finally!
Theyâre baaaaaaaaaack!âŁ

Gonna need your help to spread the word on this one. For a year, Iâve been building this project, the Native Horror Index, with my bear hands basically. Itâs my gift to the horror-loving Indigenous community. Over 55 profiles are live, but starting today, you can submit your own profile. Tag your kin, let em know. NativeHorrorIndex.com
Some months ago, I donated to support this Indigenous-led media platform and magazine launch. The founder of Indigidaze, Kate Cody (@chronicallyindigigoth ), has a great vision for her platform, and Iâm eager to watch it grow. Here are some sample pages from the launch issue.
