Big news! We're shifting up to October starting in 2026 and beyond.
This change in festival dates will position us within an optimal window for theatrical releases of independent film in Singapore, allowing films to reach local audiences without competing directly with the year-end slate of major Hollywood blockbusters.
In line with our mission, this move will also help to increase visibility for independent world cinema, while supporting distributors and filmmakers in engaging wider audiences.
Our Call For Entry for Asian feature films and Southeast Asian short films will officially open on 9 April 2026.
Stay tuned for more news on the open call, and see you at the upcoming edition #SGIFF37 from 21.10—01.11.26!

We look back upon our Festival Opening from #SGIFF36—GIRL by Shu Qi—which recently landed in cinemas. Deeply personal and rendered with an unsettling beauty, GIRL portrays a young girl's coming of age as she navigates the shadows of a life she never chose.
Did you manage to catch it at SGIFF or on screens this time? Swipe to see what our community of Cinephile Passholders thought of the film.

The art of the film poster takes unexpected forms in these #SGIFF36 films. In shades of green that vary from eerie to playful, they hint at realms unseen and unsettling—whether it's body horror or lo-res visual poetry.
CODA (2025), a film that was submitted through our Call For Entries in 2025, went on to win the Audience Choice Award for the 36th SGIFF. This is your sign to submit your film now.

We'd like to congratulate the film team behind 9 TEMPLES TO HEAVEN, which will have its World Premiere at the 58th Quinzaine des Cinéastes (Directors’ Fortnight) in Cannes this May 2026.
9 TEMPLES TO HEAVEN was one of seven Asian feature films in the post-production stage that was presented as part of our Works-in-Progress (WIP) Screenings at SGIFF Industry Days 2025 in partnership with Eye Catcher Global (@eyecatcher.images ). These closed-door screenings allowed festival programmers to discover new content early, offer feedback, and potentially select these films in their festival line-ups. We wish them all the best!
