Have you been loving our new light and sound installation Souterraines? Now’s your chance to show it! 💙 Vote for it as Masterpiece of the Year, organised by @museumpassmusees ! 🏆 Through laser beams and spatial sound, @romain.tardy and @cocornel bring Brussels’ mysterious, hidden river back to life. The artists drew on real audiovisual recordings to reinterpret its movements, resonances and hidden life forms. Visitors get immersed in a sensory landscape in the museum’s underground, the only place in the city’s Pentagon where the river still reveals itself. What’s even cooler? The installation is guided by actual environmental data! If the river’s temperature, acidity levels or flow rate changes, so does Souterraines. 📉 Blending art and scientific innovation, the Sewer Museum gives back a voice to the Senne, after she has been silenced for over a century. She’s alive! And if we care of her, she could one day reclaim her place in Brussels. Cast your vote now and spread the word! 👉 semainedesmuseesbelges.be 👉 weekvandebelgischemusea.be As part of our new exhibition, Back on Senne. #MuseumPASSMusées #MuseumStukVanHetJaar #ChefDoeuvreDeLAnnée #Vote #Senne #DigitalArt #BackOnSenne #Exhibition ⬆️ Link in bio

Did you know that today is International Day of Light? 💡✨ So, have you seen our light and sound installation Souterraines yet? Part of our current exhibition Back on Senne, this immersive sensory landscape gives a voice to the hidden and often-forgotten river through laser beams and spatial sound. For the creation of this work, artists @romain.tardy and @cocornel used audiovisual recordings of the river: its reflections, movements, resonances, and even the often-unseen life forms beneath the surface. The result lets you experience the river as a living being through light and sound. See you at the museum! #InternationalDayOfLight #Souterraines #Installation #Senne 📷 © Femke de Bolle

Time for another beaver-cam update! 🦫 Since you all loved the Valentine’s Day footage of these two lovebirds, here are some new snapshots of Brussels’ official beaver duo. For those who recently joined us: this pair was first spotted in September 2025, and we’ve been keeping an eye on them ever since. After being absent for more than a century, beavers made their return to the north of Brussels a few years ago. One major reason? Parts of the river Senne have been reopened throughout the region. Restoring waterways doesn’t just benefit the river itself, it also brings wildlife back. 🌊 And beavers are incredible allies for biodiversity. Their activity slows water flow, improves infiltration, revitalises the soil, and creates entirely new habitats for other species. A real win-win for nature and for the city. 💚 Who knows… we might have some little beavers soon. 🤭 Want to learn more about the return of the beaver? Visit our river-themed exhibition, Back on Senne. Have you visited Back on Senne yet? As we head into the 4th month of the exhibition, a big thank you to everyone who stopped by so far! 💙 🌊 From shaping Brussels’ landscape and helping the city’s first port flourish, to being channelled, diverted, and eventually buried underground, the Senne has always been part of the city’s story. Though no longer visible, she remains a living, dynamic force — not just a reminder of a vanished landscape, but a river with a remarkable power to regenerate. Discover the river’s past, present and future at the Sewer Museum! Come uncover her secrets, book your visit now. 🎟️ #Exhibition #BackOnSenne #River #Senne 📷© Femke De Bolle © Eve-Anne HKS © Pauline Arnould © Camille Crucifix ⬆️ Link in bio
