Announcing the artistic fellows for Resynthesising the Traditional – »The Wind Howls« artistic lab in Almaty as part of the II Korkut Sonic Arts Triennale warm-ups in October 2025. Initiated by CTM and
@hmot.club , the lab adopts the metaphor of resynthesis to confront conservative views of culture as something frozen and resistant to transformative practices.
Congratulations to the following six artists selected from 135+ applicants who, together with the co-hosts Medina Bazarğali
@myodium and Bilawa Respati
@sastraswara , will spend the week at
@tselinnycenter exploring ways of engaging with and reshaping the traditional through sound.
@serverobserver_ (KZ) uses voice as portal, nonverbal archives of air, body, and unseen matter converging in a practice of listening as relation.
@suraleisme (INT) bends machine learning, field recordings, and folk instruments into mythic feedback loops.
@trchmnn (BR) cuts the rabeca’s wail into wind-stretched collage, morphing Brazilian fiddle into a place-rooted howl against purity.
@xena_xang (KR/CZ) reconceptualises the hairdryer as drone noise, airflow domesticity colliding with trance states until wind becomes invisible score.
@vviirruus2020sounds (TN) resurrects and transforms vanished ancestral rites through wind instruments of bone, skin, and beeswax.
@xakalele (NL) fuses hand-built Moluccan-Papuan instruments and electronics to navigate queer liminalities.
