Today marks one year of SOUVENIR
If you read, bought, reviewed, flipped through, reposted, shared or talked to me about this book, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. It means the world every time Souvenir finds a new reader.
I'm so glad I got the chance to make and share something that I wrote and drew with my own two hands, about real human experiences. A robot could never.
This book would never have been possible without the fine folks over at @fieldmouse.press . I'm so grateful!
You can still pick up Souvenir through the links in my bio! :)

We are thrilled to announce that the 2026 Lion’s Tooth Dandelion artist-in-residence is Maggie Carroll ✨✨✨
From Maggie’s’ application: “I am an illustrator and enjoy making other people’s stories come to life, but I want to have the confidence and skills to bring my own stories to life through comics. The Residency will not only help me take the leap to make the stories in my head and sketchbooks into a reality, but it will also allow me to connect with and learn more about the comics community in Milwaukee.”
We had 23 very strong applicants (two more than last year), once again reflecting the diversity and quality of the work being produced in Milwaukee. This year’s juror panel was composed of the following professionals:
- Representing fellow artists: Greg & Fake of Santos Sisters fame
- Representing publishers of comics: Alex Hoffman at Fieldmouse Press
- Representing comics retailers: Bill Wehmann from Doomed Planet Comics and Books in Pittsburgh, PA
The Dandelion Comics Residency is presented by Lion’s Tooth in partnership with BearBear and MILK Comic Fest and with mentorship by Quinn Blackshere and Hannah Hallman. It is a juried program established in 2022 for cartoonists living in the Greater Milwaukee area. Our goal is to support the local comics community while promoting work produced here to well-respected professionals active in the industry today.

New from the blog: The publisher of Fieldmouse Press, Alex Hoffman, tells us about what it means to be a visual storyteller and the importance of new voices in Comics & Graphic Novels. Fieldmouse has six new titles out now! Go SEE what they have to offer 👀
The kind folks at @asterism_books interviewed our publisher @sequential.li about the work of the press, the joys and challenges of publishing comics, and Alex makes some recommendations for new readers. Take a look (link is in the place where you'd expect it to be)
🫦 My new comic, The Cannibals: Amuse Bouche Edition, is now published by Fieldmouse Press + available for preorder in my bio link.

New review over at Sequential State --- Piero by Edmond Baudoin from @nyrcomics . Quite possibly one of the best comics I've ever read.
Maudlin commemoration post — Skin to Skin, my comic for Ley Lines, was published a year ago by @czapbooks@wormulus . I put my heart into this 24 page love song to belkis ayon and chinese folklore reexamined and retold, and it turned out to be the first time any of my work took on a lifespan beyond the moment of making and sharing. It led to my first time paneling at a major convention @torontocomics — first time getting nominated for uhhh anything much less an Ignatz Award — and my first time seeing my work reviewed. It’s so odd to read writing about my work / learn what other people see when they engage my writing and drawing.
All this to say - support Ley Lines!! Their 2019 lineup is looking fantastic. Thanks @czapbooks@wormulus as ever for turning me from Biggest Fan into contributor - and thanks @sequentialstate and Four Color Apocalypse for engaging and reviewing!
