I have completed my Master’s degree in New Media Music at the Graduate School of Sangmyung University.
Although I was unable to attend the graduation ceremony due to my schedule in Paris, I would like
to commemorate the 19-month journey of writing my thesis through these photographs. 🎓👩🎓
This research began with the dynamic energy of
K-pop that I witnessed firsthand while working in Nigeria. That experience gave me the conviction to continue pursuing this research.
Viewing Nigerian audiences not simply as cultural consumers, but as active participants in the creative process, became an important foundation of my work.
After returning to Korea, I continued to deepen my research on Nigeria, and in January of this year, I visited Nigeria once again to carry out related projects on site.
Throughout this journey, Nigerian music, especially Afrobeats, became an important source of inspiration for me.
My 15 years of experience across the Korean music industry have gradually developed into a distinctive archive shaped by hands-on professional experience and academic insight.
Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Professor @haneung.mp4 (Han-eung Lee) of the Graduate School of Sangmyung University, whose ongoing research on Afrobeats music and invaluable musical and academic guidance helped shape the direction and tone of this thesis.
I also sincerely thank the music students who grew through the curriculum I developed and introduced
on site, the creators I have worked with, and my colleagues across the Nigerian music industry.
Although we may be physically far apart, I believe
the cultural and musical bonds we share will remain connected.

Leand Records’ Music Direction Project, prepared since fall 2025, officially came to a close on May 2 at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. 🇺🇸
From Seoul to Arizona, this project marked another important step in Leand Records’ international journey across music education, artist development, and global creative production.
We would like to thank Katie for delivering a beautiful performance on the stage of Arizona State University, as well as everyone who helped bring this global project to a successful close.

As a vocal trainer and music director, I was honored to be officially invited by UEF University to lead an international K-pop vocal training program in
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
I am sincerely grateful to UEF University for respecting the educational direction pursued by Leand Records, along with the purpose and meaning at the heart of this program. This official program, jointly organized by UEF University’s Institute of International Education, Student Affairs Office, and Leand Records, was also featured in an article on the university’s website.
Through my exchange with the Institute of International Education, it was also a deeply meaningful opportunity to share interesting points of connection between Vietnamese and Korean, grounded in the linguistic sensibility I developed through direct engagement with local languages in Nigeria. Going beyond the framework of vocal technique alone, it was also personally meaningful to speak together about Korean music and culture.
Even when language and culture differ, I believe there remains a shared foundation in the desire to create better music and to continue developing musical ability. To help narrow that distance, I hope to continue contributing as a speaker and educator through more educational programs and platforms for cultural exchange in the future.
I also sincerely thank the UEF students who participated in this program.

Special Guest Lecture & K-POP Vocal Workshop
Vocal Techniques & Korean Arts and Culture!
UEF in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has continued to grow as a university shaped by an international outlook and a modern educational environment. It has maintained its QS Stars 4-star rating while further strengthening both educational quality and internationalization through its second-cycle institutional accreditation and FIBAA international accreditation for selected programs.
I am truly delighted to be part of this meaningful occasion at a university with both international competitiveness and a strong educational foundation.
I am also sincerely grateful to the university for preparing such a thoughtful and lovely poster for this workshop.

On April 21 at 6:30 PM, I will be conducting a K-pop vocal lecture and workshop at UEF University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
UEF University is well known for its international learning environment and its active academic and cultural exchange with institutions across a number of countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore.
During the workshop, I will be teaching K-pop vocal techniques while also introducing Korean arts and culture. I will also speak about the musical connections between Africa and Korea within the wider context of cross-cultural musical exchange that Leand Records has been exploring. I also hope to share thoughts on how Korea and Vietnam, within Asia, have each developed their own distinct cultures and musical traditions.
The official interview and related article will be published on the university website after the workshop. I will continue to do my best to contribute to broader international cultural exchange.
