The Non-Fiction Film Club! Honestly didn’t expect the response, but thank you for all the kind messages and support 🤍 As the Oscars are approaching, for our first session — I thought it would be fun to start with documentaries that have all been nominated for an Academy Award, but that represent very different styles of documentary filmmaking from different parts of the world. Honestly, I can’t believe it’s already March. The past few months have been a period of slowing down and restoration and giving myself space for new experiences. And with that, I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on my journey so far. One thing that I've reflected upon is gratitude. For my opportunities, experiences, conversations, collaborations, and friendships I’ve built over the years. Now coming out of my hibernation, I also realised something: I probably know more docmakers abroad than I do back home. So this feels like a small step towards changing that and hopefully, helping to build a community back in Singapore. I’m starting a Non-Fiction Film Club — a space for creatives in Singapore who are interested in documentary filmmaking to watch and discuss films together. Think of it like a book club for documentaries. It’s really just an attempt to give a small part of what I’ve learnt and experienced back to the place I call home, and hopefully build a stronger community of docmakers and documentary lovers who can share, learn, and appreciate this craft together. Patriarki telah lama memonopoli Cinta, sedang kapitalisme dengan ganasnya terus mengobral Cinta sebagai barang dagang. Mungkin itu juga mengapa sepi terus mengobrak-abrik kita yang sulit melihat Cinta sebagai sesuatu yang-mungkin.
