Hawaii gives off major Puerto Rico vibes, just way less developed, way more green and better kept. The food’s not as good, though. The mountains, at least in Kauai, are about the same height as PR’s, but the shapes are crazy and super close to the water, which makes for some insane views. Wildlife’s everywhere, from birds I have never seen before to sea life(turtles and pods of dolphins). Definitely coming back.
You can still feel the tension between locals and Americans, even after all these years of colonization and eventual annexation. Some people are more vocal than others, but it’s definitely there, you can feel it.

So many emotions, appreciation, and respect for @badbunnypr . Usually, I’d never go to such a last-minute free concert packed with thousands of people and little organization on a random street, but I’m so glad I did to give @avunjianv the entire Puerto Rican experience. It was so packed that people had nowhere to go, so they climbed on top of every structure around the stage: buildings, cars, power generators, roofs, etc. It was the perfect closure to 6 weeks in Puerto Rico.

The U.S. Navy stopped bombing exercises on most of the places you see on this video, on May 1, 2003. This decision followed decades of protests from local residents, environmentalists, and activists, who raised concerns about health issues, environmental damage, and the impact on the island’s economy. The closure of the bombing range marked the end of nearly 60 years of military use of Vieques for training exercises.
