We are a neighborhood-level movement responding to homelessness in a proactive, compassionate and effective way. SELAH — which stands for Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Atwater, and Hollywood — organizes multiple volunteer-run programs each week to provide immediate material aid and ongoing community support to our unhoused neighbors in these areas.
At our onsite programs (also called drop-in programs), volunteers distribute food, clothing, and hygiene products. Participants can also visit our Services Desk, where volunteers help them navigate various public resources.
On our outreach programs, volunteers visit unhoused neighbors at encampments to build relationships and distribute supplies.

This was one of the best moments of my life—topped minutes later when I got to call the folks at @selahnhc to let them know that @jeopardy was giving them $1 million. Everyone in LA knows we need to find a better way to address homelessness, but SELAH does the work: Getting our neighbors access to food, hygiene, and transportation; helping them apply for housing and navigate the legal system; treating all with dignity and respect. I am so honored to have played for them, and so grateful to the folks at @celebrityjeopardyabc for letting me do it.
OH MY GOD. @mina_kimes just won @celebrityjeopardyabc . That means $1 million dollars for SELAH programs supporting our unhoused and housing-insecure neighbors.
We are processing this moment and celebrating what it means for our community. Then we are putting this incredible gift to work and deepening our years-long commitment to our neighbors. These funds will keep our volunteer-led programs active and fuel a movement built on connection and humanity at a time when so many Angelenos are losing access to basics like food benefits, healthcare, and housing support.

Every month, our AMAZING volunteer teams make dozens of hygiene kits for our neighbors in Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Atwater, and Hollywood 🪥 🧼 Wanna help? You can donate new, travel-sized hygiene supplies, or assemble kits at home and drop them off at Silver Lake Community Church.

The Atwater Village Neighborhood Council is proud to support the Sunday Social by @selahnhc every 1st Sunday of the month from 11am-1pm
Outreach team and Services Desk will be on hand, as well as hot or iced coffee, pastries, homemade lunches, homemade cookies & hygiene items.

It’s May Day! On this day commemorating worker struggles across the world, we honor the many working people in our community.
“Homeless people just need to get jobs” is one of the many harmful myths surrounding the homelessness crisis. But most unhoused people already have jobs — more than half, in fact, according to a @uchicago study. Having a job is not enough to avoid homelessness without adequate wages, accessible services, and permanent housing.
When any person tries to find and maintain employment, resources like transportation, IDs, mail access, and community networks are essential. At SELAH programs, our volunteers connect neighbors with these and other critical resources.
