Tuesday, Vol. 2: Summer, out now. Another joint effort with @sunny16dreams to warm your heart, and maybe even your hands. 40pp, color and B&W. Link in bio.
“Everything only happens once. And if I’m lucky enough to be there, and especially to make a record of it, I have a unique perspective. I photograph obsessively, almost every single day for a few years now, hoping to better understand others or myself or the earth. And when I pass a stranger on the street and we both have our film cameras in hand, we usually exchange some small gesture of salute. We can see clearly, we’re completely different and exactly the same.
“As a child, I remember always seeing my dad with a camera - a point & shoot at my birthday, a disposable at the family reunion, a compact camera at graduation. Consciously or not, he understood what photography is for: documenting whatever moves you so you can be moved again and again, and move others. He isn’t Gordon Parks, but so many of his old images (many of which are in my bedroom now) hold a canonical weight for me. Pictures of me as a baby and throughout my childhood or of relatives who passed away before I was born. Now I’m working to see everything like that; tender in the way only family can be, earnest in the way only amateurs can be, and enchanting in the way only film can be.” @seemonsters

This past NYE, I promised myself (publicly) that I would finally print my work in longform this year. My work has been featured in a number of magazines and books but nothing entirely my own, which felt criminal. Fast forward to April: I designed and printed a short run, followed closely by an extended run, of my first photo booklet, Into Sugars. Now, just two weeks later, my good friend/terrible doppelgänger Dom Montoia (@sunny16dreams ) and I have designed and printed the first issue of a new serial magazine called Tuesday. You can see the cover art of the first issue, LOVE, on the 2nd slide. Available for purchase at the link in my bio. Thank you for all the love you’ve shown Into Sugars!! More Tuesday to come and more solo mags in the works.
This year is one for the books.
