We’re so excited to finally share the news… Our brand-new documentary MOZART: GENIUS FOR HIRE is coming to Sky Arts later this year 🎻✨ @davidharewood @sabinaharper This has been 18 months in the making - what started as a small conversation with our incredible commissioner Benedetta Pinelli, grew into a bold, beautiful, and unexpected portrait of Mozart. Not just the genius composer we think we know, but a pioneering freelance musician, hustling, innovating, taking creative risks, like so many of us today. Featuring powerful musical performances by Gil Shaham, Danielle de Niese, Cyrill Ibrahim and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, with readings from Matthew Broome as Mozart and our very own David Harewood as Leopold - this is a documentary about legacy, labour, and artistry. With insights from world-class experts like John Suchet, Professor Simon Keefe, and Annilese Miskimmon from the English National Opera, this project is as rich in scholarship as it is in soul and sound. We hope this film captures some of the wonder, surprise, and sheer audacity of Mozart’s life and music, and what it means to tell these stories through our own lens. At Section 52, it’s our mission to make work that feels like it’s for us, stories we want to see, made accessible and exciting for everyone. We’re beyond proud.
