Annie Lee
Rest
Joining composer and director Annie Lee on stage are Anna-Maria Cadell, Viking Stendhal and Hana Yun Stevens. Rest is an opera which is in part about making an opera and in part about pain and confront. The two come together. It may be different to what you expect an opera to be. It explores rest, in the music and for the body. It’s also often silent. Rest is interactive. The audience can join in on stage, or from their seats. This is a piece that draws on the personal and shared experience of its makers in order to share them with you.
Annie Lee is a first time opera maker. She is a student of Fine Art at the Slate school of Fine Art. She loves to collaborate and work across disciplines. She is also a communications representative for the Disabled Student’s Network.
Rest has a lot to tell us, it will be quiet, and there will be space for us to hear together.

Calla Esperanza and Hannah Calascione
her bed / / dream wake piece
Calla, Hannah and their collaborators Danielle James, Kira-Rai Harrison and Eleanor Westbrook, Macy Jacob Seelochan, Heather Estradiol and Oakley Swinson are presenting a work in progress.
her bed // dream wake piece is a devised work which centres the experience of trans women and trans feminine people.
Calla is currently a student of composition at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She mainly works with text scores as they are accessible to people with a range of skills. Hannah is a director and dramaturg who also has a diploma in horticulture. Both Calla and Hannah love collaboration, improvisation and working across art forms.
All of these will come together in her bed / / dream wake piece as our eyes and ears are drawn to a girl, lying in her bed, between sleep and wakefulness and we follow her journey as she explores those spaces in between to find her voice.
This is going to be a beautiful piece. Come along to Lilian Baylis Studio on 3rd May to share in it.
