SECOND CLASS QUEER in London @riversidestudioslondon Written, performed, and produced by Kumar Muniandy At a live, fast-paced gay speed-dating night in Berlin, Krishna, a gay Tamil-Malaysian man, finds himself across the table from five wildly different speed-daters: a naïvely Eurocentric Brit, a charming German who ‘doesn’t see colour’, a proud plus-sized Pakistani-British Muslim, a gentle, caring Black British NHS nurse, and a Western yogi chasing spirituality. Each encounter pushes Krishna to confront love, loss, identity, and the truth he never shared with his late mother. Funny, tender, and honest, Second Class Queer is a solo performance that speaks directly to anyone who has ever been made to feel like a guest in their own life. What the critics say: “The audience is already transfixed. This is a stunning, bold way to open a show... Kumar keeps this feeling of personal connection strong throughout.” The Edinburgh Reporter ★★★★ “His presence in the role is superbly real, real with a capital R. It made me laugh and cry. It made me feel uncomfortable and then proud. It made me want to be a better man.” The Latest Brighton ★★★★★ “Kumar is utterly believable and he brilliantly times the conversations, which is no mean feat. He gives us humanity, honesty and understanding. It’s a terrific performance.” Scene Magazine ★★★★★ Awards and Recognition: ★ Edinburgh Fringe - Outstanding Male Performer - Highly Commended, Asian Arts Award by Asian Art Fund Scotland ★ ★ Edinburgh Fringe - Recipient of the 2025 Keep It Fringe Award ★ ★ Recipient of Brighton Fringe’s 2025 Mental Health Bursary ★ Suitable for audiences aged 16 and over. Please note: this play addresses challenging and sensitive topics, please contact Box Office for further information. This performance features incense in its final ten minutes, gently infusing the space with fragrance. Audience members with scent or smoke sensitivities are warmly encouraged to prepare any supports they might need beforehand and are very welcome to talk to our team pre-show to arrange assistance or a low-key exit if required. #secondclassqueer #londonqueer #riversidestudios #gayspeeddating #queertheatre

OMG!!! SECOND CLASS QUEER is coming to Enfield, London. I’ll be performing at @dugdaleartscentre (their black box theatre is stunning) on Friday 8 May at 7:30pm and I genuinely can’t wait. It’s a one-night-only show… and it happens right after the Enfield Local Election on the 7 May, so the atmosphere is going to be something else 👀 If you’re in Enfield or know anyone there - send them my way. Come through, bring a friend, fill the room. And @peopleoftheatre - Giuliano, when are you coming to see the play? At @dugdaleartscentre or @riversidestudioslondon - your move 😉 - I’m waiting 🤗) #secondclassqueer #dugdaleartscentre #londonqueer #solotheatre #tamilqueer

For Day 10 of BLR Hubba, Second Class Queer took the stage, following Krishna, a queer Indian Malaysian man navigating a Berlin gay speed-dating event. An exploration of cultural heritage, masculinity, and the intersections of race and sexuality in a foreign land. The play has been recognized at numerous festivals around the world, and audiences at BLR Hubba witnessed its wit, heart, and thought-provoking storytelling firsthand. Did you catch it live at BIC yesterday? Tell us in the comments!
