Capped off a season-long mentorship program with @cascademtnascents this past weekend, spending a couple nights on Kulshan w @mcgillzack ! We snacked, we laughed, we didn’t sleep much 🌬️, we summitted, we skied into the crater, and we got some corn.
This winter was fraught with a variety of challenges and lessons, but continuing to learn in the backcountry with partners I respect & trust was the real highlight ✨
Much love to @evergreen_strength@kellandcrow and @tommascioli for committing to a season of riding and learning together…I really enjoy spending time in the backcountry w you 😊🫂
First snow in the mountains inspired me to finally dig through videos from this past winter in Hokkaido 🥲
Captured here are moments from 2 weeks of the trip w/ @e_logsdon1 & @evergreen_strength , bopping around Niseko, Rusutsu, Yotei, Sapporo, Asahikawa, Asahidake, and Furano.
🫂 to @e_logsdon1 and @evergreen_strength for heeding the call to an inaugural trip to Japan, @goneissean for giving us a crash course in onsen culture and navigating the Niseko frenzy, Daisuke @snowshack_niseko for his hospitality, and @hokkaidowilds for the limitless inspiration and beta on the Hokkaido backcountry.
And to all the other folks who took nicely to us strangers and pointed us in the right direction, on or off the mountain 🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️
📋Trip Report: OPUS Hut
If you’re anything like us, you’ve had a busy Spring out skiing…that’s why we’re only now posting about our epic trip out to OPUS this past April!
After a foot of fresh ❄️ fell across the peaks of the San Juans, we were treated to blue skies, mild temps, and minimal wind. The days were long, avalanche danger was Low at all elevations (!), and North faces held cold, cold powder – what more can you ask for?!
Well – maybe some aprés beverages. Beverages that didn’t have to come up in your pack…at 11.7k’…looking out over the basin you just drew lines on all day 😎
Huge thanks to the hut keepers up at OPUS that keep visitors fed, watered, and stoked! In-depth trip report to follow on !
It’s been tug of war with the weather so far, but it makes you appreciate the cold, deep moments when they’re here! Fun riding and pretty scenes from some recent days around Table. Now, we wait out the rain once again and 🤞🏼 for many snow on the other side ☔️🌈🦄☃️
