New project (and @create.with.meaning ’s first official client): Brand identity for @cymru_global , formerly Welsh Centre for International Affairs. A name shaped by our past, our people, and the changes we want to see in the world.
Very pleased to be awarded ‘Certificate of Excellence’ at the @istd.awards on Friday for the @blackandbeech brand identity.
“Lovely mark” – Paula Scher.
Can’t ask for better than that!
Black & Beech is a design-led lifestyle brand promoting feminist activism and social change. The logo features a continuous line that forms both a better ‘B’ and an ampersand, symbolising unity and connection, representing both collaboration and motherhood.

Inspired by the post WWI / Art Nouveau period of @templeofpeacewales ’ inception, we created a suite of brand icons packed with warmth and character.
A pleasure jamming with @barryhonolulu on these, bringing his joyful, illustrative style.
IMPORTANT DETAIL: Our Valleys book that went out through the crowdfunder was a pre-order — and it’s totally sold out (will not be available to buy at the event). Massive thanks to everyone who backed us and to all of you who’ve been asking about it.
We’re already cooking up Volume 2. 👀

To celebrate the launch of our @jonpountney Valleys book, we’ve created a super limited edition Screenprint, inspired by an iconic Richard Llewelyn line from ‘How Green Was My Valley’. (Gets me very time)…
“I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me, those who are to come. I looked back and saw my father, and his father, and all our fathers, and in front, to see my son, and his son, and the sons upon sons beyond.
And their eyes were my eyes.”
Available at our celebration event this Thursday at @storyvilleponty / @zuccocafe .

Big thanks to @designswansea for having me last week. Such a thoughtful, welcoming event. Loved the energy, the crowd, the chats (the pizza). Looking forward to the next event already.

As it’s world book day, seems like as good an excuse as any to share some content from our upcoming VALLEYS book, the latest collaboration with artist and photographer @jonpountney .
Crowd-funder launching now in a minute…
Blast from the past, anyone know what happened to ‘Welsh Artist of the Year’? It was an annual art competition held in St David’s Hall, Cardiff. Google tells me the last was held in 2013... Shame to lose it.
(Logo by me, circa 2004. It was a competition at university,
I won £50 for it, it was my first ever ‘real’ logo. Still quite like it!)
