Many thanks to @lbbonline and Abi Lightfoot for this look into the @zillow and @spaceykacey partnership project. Check out Kacey’s new album also, it’s a banger.
I’ve really been struggling with this. My friend Taylor, @timber_timbre_ , is gone. Over the past week, it hasn’t felt real. It hurts and it’s confusing.
I met you in 2005 or 2006 when I was working at The Film Buff video store on Roncesvalles. You came in often with your girlfriend at the time, CC, and one day she gave me a CD copy of Cedar Shakes, your first record. I put it on the next day, mostly just curious and not expecting much, but it blew me away. I was floored by it. I still am. After that we became friends and eventually started making stuff together. Over the years, a lot of stuff. Oh Messiah, Demon Host, We’ll Find Out, Hot Dreams, Grand Canyon (forever one of my favourite videos I’ve done) and more.
You were the most singular and talented songwriter I have ever met. You were hilariously funny and you could be so so kind. You also hurt people and it’s been difficult to reconcile that. I don’t want to minimize it either by eulogizing you and your art. Grief makes strange, complicated knots. But I love you and I deeply miss you and I hope you are at peace now.
“Barely held together, just like everything else”.

Another old one that we made with almost no money and no crew. @dillydallyto “Snake Head”. Me and @peter_hadfield and…that’s basically it. I produced it (something I should not be allowed to do) with Enda Monks (who honestly did most of the heavy lifting in that regard). Enda gave me a list of “thoughts” and that’s what you see subtitled on the screen throughout the video. The idea I had was the video and imagery should just feel like their inner monologue. The imagery should be pretty banal and almost be a kind of “anti-music-video music video”.
I’ve always really liked this one. And Dilly Dally.
There’s a comment on YouTube saying that this video is an homage to The Replacements videos for Alex Chilton and Bastards of Young and that Enda is wearing a Replacements t-shirt in the video to signify this. I can say that it honestly wasn’t intended as an homage to those videos, but that’s kind of cool that somebody found that connection. 🤷🏻♂️
