Have you ever felt like a shadow lingered by you when you were making your way through our city centre? 🗣️ Perhaps you thought it was a restless spirit drifting by or just a glitch in your peripheral. In reality it was most likely a goth zooming on by, trying their best to get out of the blistering sun that boiled them underneath their many layers of black clothes. But the minor discomfort of overheating during the summer heat is worth it by a mile when it comes to true self-expression. Al Fartukh @scribb.ly has met many a goth in their time of photographing various alt scenes across Dublin and it was time for them to find out more about what got several of these goths into the subculture in the first place. All of these beautifully macabre shots were taken on 35mm black and white film, a medium which is near and dear to the photographer’s heart, and in between shots they asked each model where their heart lay in the community.
