🚲 Pedal Power & Bicycle Memories
Long before bike paths and weekend rides, the first bicycles were a rough and rickety experience - no pedals, no rubber tyres, just a “dandy horse” you pushed along with your feet.
Fast forward a few generations, and bikes became a symbol of freedom. Many of us remember the excitement of spotting one under the Christmas tree - maybe a dragster with streamers or a trusty bike with a bell and basket 💛
On the Sunshine Coast, bikes have carried everything from carefree beach holiday fun to posties delivering telegrams, and even job seekers travelling between towns in tough times - sometimes stuffing tyres with grass just to keep moving.

Now showing at Library+ Caloundra until Sunday 10 May, this immersive exhibition blends fashion, tech and storytelling to imagine bold new futures. Wander through an interactive landscape where magical garments speak, and local stories are woven through textiles, sound and space.
Co-created with the Sunshine Coast community, Radical Hope Machine 2 is a powerful exploration of what hope can look, feel and sound like.
