What’s happening at Sciences Thé Part 2. Because one part wasn’t enough😂 At the core of Sciences Thé is scientific communication and education. Right now, I’m working on two new articles for a tea house, and I’m genuinely excited about them because they combine their expertise with mine. Of course, I can create ready to use scientific content, but I honestly think every tea professional has their own identity, philosophy, and way of speaking about tea. It would be a shame not to create something truly tailored to that universe. I’m also preparing a new online talk focused on health claims and communication, yas a duo. Because every perspective brings something valuable, and experiences complement each other 🔥 And finally, I’ve been working on a potential workshop for an upcoming event. No health claims. No classic explanations about tea. Something more practical and a bit different, focused on understanding how scientific press and research actually work behind the scenes, a world that is rarely decoded for the general public. I think learning how information on tea is built, interpreted, and communicated is essential if we want to ask better questions and develop a sharper perspective 🔥 #Teascience #Sciencecommunication #Teaeducation #Tearesearch #healthcommunication

What has Sciences Thé been up to since March ? If you have been following for a while, you probably noticed I have been quieter here lately. Still present in stories, but not quite the same. A lot shifted in the background. For years, I was a researcher in oncology. That was a big part of how I defined myself. And then I chose to step away. Not because I stopped caring about science but because I wanted to connect to it differently. Closer to people. Closer to real impact. I am now working as a health copywriter, creating content for awareness campaigns and health communication projects. Funny enough, my professional path ressembles more and more Sciences Thé 👀  Also, speaking of Sciences Thé : it never really paused. New content are coming very soon. Around June or July. Thank you for being here, even in the quieter moments 👌

I didn’t expect a repaired shibo to start conversations. This week, I brought a kintsugi piece to my new workplace. People looked. Some didn’t dare to ask Others simply said: “I don’t know what it is, but it’s beautiful.” And then the questions came. What is it? Can you explain me? In academic research, curiosity is everywhere. But when I worked in academia, most people didn't have this spark of curiosity. I was very confused but reminded me that, labs were just workplace like everywhere else. With certain types of personnality. Curiosity is just human, not necessarily driven by a type of work. #TeaCulture #Kintsugi #Curiosity #TeaStory #MaterialCulture How are people in your workplace regarding your tea passion ?

What if learning worked like tea? A recent paper used tea infusion as a metaphor for learning. The idea is simple: not everything appears at once. Some things emerge slowly, through time, exposure and the right conditions. That also applies to learning. In complex fields, learning is not just about collecting facts. It is about building judgement, recognising patterns and making sense of situations over time. Tea works well here because infusion is not instant. Extraction depends on time, context and repetition. Maybe learning does too. Bibliographie  PARMAR, P. et al. The Tea-Steeping Metaphor: Origin, Application, Advantages, Disadvantages and Impact on Forensic Medicine Teaching. You’re not “randomly shaky.” Caffeine just told your brain: let’s be alert. Your body took it seriously unfortunately haha #caffeine #teascience #coffeescience #neuroscience #nutritionfacts Are you shaking with tea ?

This morning, you had stomach ache. Gastric reflux. Morning matcha doesn't betray you. Mr.Big Teapot either. You just skipped breakfast. And you are overdosing like a caffeine-addict ! And sometimes it's just no luck ! Did you experience it ? #matcha #guthealth #acidreflux #nutritionscience #teascience

Running fast ? Lifting heavier ? What is the place of tea ??? Caffeine does the heavy lifting. In studies, the most notable effects came from green tea extracts, concentrated cocktail of green teas. Some studies interested in concentrated catechines, listing potential effects like fat oxidation, protection of oxydative stress during movements. Such effects remain mild compared to caffeine effects. Between real effects, extract vs cup, and recovery, here’s what actually matters ! I’ve always loved oolong teas. They’re probably the ones that pulled me deeper into tea in the first place. With this post, I just wanted to put words on that experience, mixing what I feel when I drink them with a bit of science behind it. Still the teas I enjoy sharing the most. What about you? #oolongtea #teascience #gongfucha #teaaroma #camelliasinensis

Smoked tea, especially Lapsang Souchong, has long carried a reputation for being “dangerous”. In Europe, what was regulated were polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), contaminants formed during smoking. They are known as carcinogens. Some traditional smoked teas showed elevated levels in the dry leaves, which led to stricter monitoring. Current studies suggest that PAHs transfer only poorly into the infusion, because these molecules dissolve very little in water. In 2026, smoked tea covers several realities: traditional wood-smoked teas, more controlled smoking techniques, and teas with smoky flavour profiles. #lapsangsouchong #smokedtea #teascience #teasafety #tearesearch
